About this audiobook
Emily has only ever focused on her career as a senior attending in the emergency department, and she isn't happy about having to babysit a resident with a ten-year gap in her resume, no matter how intriguing she is.
But every time they work together, it's not just their patients' heartbeat that gets a little irregular. Soon, the once-clear lines between work and personal life begin to blur.
When Diana's unorthodox secret past is revealed, putting her job in jeopardy, Emily has to choose between her career and her relationship.
Contains mature themes.
Chris Zett
Chris Zett lives in Berlin, Germany, with her partner. TV inspired her to study medicine, but she found out soon enough that real life in a hospital consists more of working long hours than performing heroic rescues. The part about finding a workplace romance turned out to be true, though. She uses any opportunity to escape the routine by reading, writing, or traveling. Her favorite destinations include penguin colonies in Patagonia and stone circles in Scotland.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The fact that the lead couple in this story ACTUALLY communicates is what elevated this somewhat trite romance to greater heights. The story choices I've seen in other reads and overall was okay but the author's execution was still done well. Zett really nailed it with writing great couple interactions and intimacy, making the relationship strong and believable. If you're looking for a solid, feel good romance, you've found one.
Quick notes: Slow burn, ice queen, medical setting, co-workers to lovers storyline.
Also, Abby Craden does an excellent job in the narration.5 people found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It was suprisingly good, based on the teaser, I thought it will be some empty romance to listen to semi-asleep. Fortunately it was not, it is much better then expected.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The book was good but a bit boring in the middle. The beginning and end both made up for it though.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good story the narrator was magnificent as always. Kudos to Abby Craden
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Audiobook errors. The ends of some chapters are cut off. Otherwise, I enjoyed the story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Enjoyed the read, enjoyed the narrator, some points I’d liked a little more substance, and
(Spoiler after here)
I’d enjoyed more story after the conclusion of the coupling. I also was a bit more communication tying the ‘first meeting’ with the drumming session that kept reoccuring to the one lead to their future together, because after it was mentioned so much it seemed weird to me that it was hardly mentioned between the two leads.
But besides that. I really enjoyed it and the interactions between the main characters, even if the character arc for other characters was quite flat (thinking about non leads here) - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I loved this! I read the second in this universe before this one, not knowing it was published first/that they sort of went together. But it didn’t take any enjoyment out of this one. Abby Craden is a wonderful narrator, and really brought the story to life. Such a sweet and fun romance. I’ll definitely check out more titles from this author, and from this narrator as well.
