About this audiobook
An unexpected offer threatens the bond between Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi as the two Jedi navigate a dangerous new planet and an uncertain future in the first canon Star Wars novel to take place before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
A Jedi must be a fearless warrior, a guardian of justice, and a scholar in the ways of the Force. But perhaps a Jedi's most essential duty is to pass on what they have learned. Master Yoda trained Dooku; Dooku trained Qui-Gon Jinn; and now Qui-Gon has a Padawan of his own. But while Qui-Gon has faced all manner of threats and danger as a Jedi, nothing has ever scared him like the thought of failing his apprentice.
Obi-Wan Kenobi has deep respect for his Master, but struggles to understand him. Why must Qui-Gon so often disregard the laws that bind the Jedi? Why is Qui-Gon drawn to ancient Jedi prophecies instead of more practical concerns? And why wasn't Obi-Wan told that Qui-Gon is considering an invitation to join the Jedi Council—knowing it would mean the end of their partnership? The simple answer scares him: Obi-Wan has failed his Master.
When Jedi Rael Averross, another former student of Dooku, requests their assistance with a political dispute, Jinn and Kenobi travel to the royal court of Pijal for what may be their final mission together. What should be a simple assignment quickly becomes clouded by deceit, and by visions of violent disaster that take hold in Qui-Gon's mind. As Qui-Gon's faith in prophecy grows, Obi-Wan's faith in him is tested—just as a threat surfaces that will demand that Master and apprentice come together as never before, or be divided forever.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it! Great dialogue between all of the characters, and does a good job of expanding the relationship between Qui-gon and Obi-wan.
Only complaint is that the reader's voice doesn't do a great job for all of the female characters, but sometimes that's more amusing than annoying. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another great canon book highly recommended to new and old fans
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow. Love love loved it. Amalgamation of canon theory and childhood Jedi chums. Reader's voices are strikingly similar to the actors. One of the best star wars stories, I'm.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book really gives great insight into the relationship of Obi-Wan and Qui Gon.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow. This was a truly great book. Wish they would have done this prequel to Episode one.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book. I love the backstory element of Qui Gon and Dooku. It gives a great base for episode I
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love love love it. It has a substantial under-pinning of commentary related to corporate social responsibility that you will have to wade through but it is still an excellently crafted book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a great Story. Understanding the politics is great but also understanding relationships and the Jedi.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pretty good story. The audio narration is excellent. Towards the end of the book the narrator let's out a few unnecessary loud screams if you are a headphone listener.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I really liked what I could hear. However, this audiobook jumps from chapter 5 to chapter 27. A large chunk of the story is just missing. Can someone please fix this?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good book. A must for true fans who ever wondered why Quigon never got on the Jedi counsel. And speaks to Obiwan's comment about how he was also, "wreckless", in ESB. (My previous comments were based on an abridged version, that I didn't know was such at the time.)
