About this audiobook

Blonde. Beautiful. A loving mother.

And missing since Monday.

On a sunny morning in late September, Shannon Blaine sets off for a jog along the rural roads near her home in Lake George, New York.  It’s her usual a.m. routine, her “me time” after dropping the kids off at school…except on this day she never returns.

Is her husband lying when he says he has no clue where she is? Could Shannon have split on her own, overwhelmed by the pressures of her life? Or is she the victim of a sexual predator who had been prowling the area and snatched her before she knew what was happening.

True crime writer Bailey Weggins, on assignment for the website Crime Beat, heads north from New York City to report on the mysterious disappearance. An anonymous tip soon leads Bailey to a grisly, bone-chilling discovery. Every town has its secrets, Bailey reminds herself, and nothing is ever as perfect as it seems. She keeps digging for answers until—when it’s almost too late—she unearths the terrifying truth.

What I liked: Seeing the investigation play out from a crime writer’s perspective. She payed close attention to little details, relied on her own instincts and investigative skill and put herself in some risky situations to get the facts.
    ?
In My Own Words: I listened to this story on Scribd and though it was good, I found myself easily distracted and losing interest at times. There were too many gaps where Bailey’s reflecting on notes, conversations and haunches and it seemed too wordy, with no action happening.

Such a Perfect Wife overall was a good mystery to pass the time. While reading it, I felt that it was like a cozy mystery, but less cheesy. A lot of the story is spent on the reporter, Bailey Weggins, recapping what she's figured out and who the suspects are. Outside of these parts, the book was really interesting and page turning - during the recapping, it was a little boring. There were plenty of suspects, some obvious and some not. Baily, the reporter, was very likable. I didn't realize when I started reading, that this is book #8 in a series that follows her. I didn't feel like I was missing any back story because of this, and I actually am curious about her story before this book and what may come next for Bailey.

The plot of this book is one of the best laid out that I have seen in a long time. Once news is out that Shannon has just vanished into thin air...Bailey Weggin... a Crime Beat reporter comes to town to write about her disappearance. Bailey digs for clues and discovers that Shannon may be too good to be true...or she could just be "such a perfect wife". It appears that she has led an ideal life. She had a handsome and successful husband...two adorable children... a condo in Florida...and enough idle time for a daily jog. Soon some red flags begin to sprout up in this perfect garden. She had recently started attending church at the local Catholic church after years of lapse...her best friend said that she seemed kind of "off” when they spoke early on the day of her disappearance...and various amounts were unaccounted for being missing in the joint back account. Soon a gruesome discovery was made...and it was not alone. There's not a lot of real depth to the story...but it's fun. Bailey is like a grown-up Nancy Drew...for grown-ups.

This book is part of a series, which I did not know prior to picking up this novel. I don’t think you need to have read the other books, as this seemed to stand alone. When a beautiful woman goes missing after her morning run, a search is instituted. Bailey Weggins is assigned to cover the case for an online publication. She has a style of journalism which gets people to talk to her. From the title, I suspected that the husband would be the suspect in this book, but he seems to have an alibi. Bailey teams up with another reporter, and they make a gruesome discovery. When something happens to the other reporter, Bailey is able to solve the case.Enjoyable, but not fabulous.#SuchAPerfectWife #KateWhite

Bailey Weggins, investigative reporter is back, this time working in her favorite genre, true crime. Bailey works for an online site called Crime Beat, and she is sent to upstate New York after a woman disappears while jogging. The search and rescue part of the operation is still underway when she checks into a local motel and arrives at the local ice cream shop which is serving as headquarters. On the surface, the Blaines seem like nice folks, and no one can understand what has happened to Shannon. I like how Bailey finds it so easy to slip into the local area and even befriends another long time local reporter. When the two make an unsettling discovery, the book veers from possible serial killer to sexual predator to domestic, all kinds of red herrings lead to an interesting ending.

Bailey Weggins is a reporter for an online crime journal. She's sent to Lake George, NY, to report on the disappearance of a young housewife. She's thrust into the midst of the case when someone makes an anonymous call to her that leads to a gruesome discovery. Is she now in a killer's sights? This is apparently the 8th book in a series, but it read just fine as a stand-alone novel. It was not outstanding, but it was a decent read. The advance reader’s edition of this book was provided by the publisher via LT Early Reviewers in exchange for a review.

Such A Perfect WifeBy Kate WhiteWhat it's all about...Bailey is a crime reporter and her assignment is to go to a small town upstate and report on a missing mom...a mom who goes out jogging and just does not return. Bailey makes friends with a local reporter and gets deeply involved in trying to solve this crime. She is actually contacted by the killer and her role in this mystery grows ever more intense. My thoughts after reading this book...I enjoyed the pace of this story. I liked Bailey’s relationship with Alice...the local reporter. Bailey was adventurous as well as curious and this made her an excellent reporter. She took risks...lots and lots of risks. What I loved best...I think I loved the book as a whole. I loved the area, the lake, the locals. Bailey’s thoughts as well as her actions kept this book really interesting to me. What potential readers might want to know...This isn’t a book with a fast pace but it is a book with lots of mysteries. Bailey was determined to get to the heart of them. And so she did. I received this book from the publisher through Edelweiss. It was my choice to read and review it.

A young mother goes out for her morning run and fails to return. Bailey Wiggins, a reporter, comes to investigate. This is the first Bailey Wiggins mystery I have read, but it probably won’t be my last. The plot was fast paced with many clues and suspects. It took most of the book before I knew who did it. Good book!

Overall I enjoyed reading this next installment of Bailey Weggins. There was just the right amount of danger and intrigue. I admire Bailey’s nosiness and overall curiosity. I felt that the plot was a little contrived and could of been fleshed out more.

This weeks read was provided to me for free in exchange for an honest review.Criminal reporter Bailey Weggins is sent on assignment to the idyllic small town of Lake George, NY. After dropping her kids off at school , Shannon Blaine sets out for her morning run, only this time, she doesn’t come back. It doesn’t take long for Bailey to compile a short list of possible suspects; her seemingly perfect husband (husbands are ALWAYS a suspect amiright), a bitter older sister, a creepy hotel manager, and a young deacon at the church Shannon recently rejoined. After an anonymous call points Bailey in the direction of the church she stumbles upon the body of not only Shannon, but 2 other unidentified persons. The case gets dangerous, and quickly, for Bailey. Using her reporting and researching skills, as well as pure gut instincts, Bailey is close to unraveling the truth. Can she unmask the killer before he silences her, forever?Y’all…. this was a wild ride! White does an amazing job of laying the ground work (clues and red herrings alike) for an epic mystery; It was well paced and exciting. As with any good mystery there are plenty of interesting and plausible suspects. At various points in the book I was convinced they were each responsible, only to change my mind and go another route (at least half a dozen times!) Baileys profession as a criminal reporter ensures our MC is quick witted and attentive to detail. She is able to think outside the box as any good writer can, and has an uncanny ability to piece together information seemingly unrelated to form a comprehensive picture of the situation. No family is perfect, and Shannon Blaines life and the people in it contain their fair share of secrets. Bailey does not give up until she uncovers them all. I will definitely have to check out more of Kate Whites work, specifically the Bailey Weggins mysteries. I am hooked!

This was the first time that I read a book from the Bailey Weggins mystery series and I will definitely be reading more! This was a very enjoyable murder mystery that kept me guessing throughout the entire story. The story is set in Lake George - when a young mother is murdered there is a contingent of reporters that converge on the case. Bailey, a reporter, is provided a tip by the murderer and then she discovers the body thus inserting herself into the story of a possible religious serial killer. Bailey is a strong character that I enjoyed reading about. She has a mind of her own but that can sometimes lead to trouble. She is inquisitive and uses every resource to find her scoop. As she gets deeper into the mystery, she uncovers many disturbing facts. Without giving away more of the plot, I will just say I would definitely recommend this book for fans of thrillers!Reader received a complimentary copy from Library Thing Early Reviewers.

Thanks to the publisher, Harper, via LibraryThing, for an Uncorrected Proof in exchange for my honest opinion. The setting is in scenic northeastern New York State and the author does the location justice. It sounds like it would be an ideal summer vacation area. This is a well-plotted murder mystery that features Bailey Weggins as an investigative reporter. I was not familiar with this series of mystery stories but enjoyed this novel so may consider reading more of them.Bailey Weggins is intelligent, inquisitive, hard-working, and an experienced reporter. She is assigned to investigate a missing woman and from the very start since this novel is so well-written, I was suspicious of nearly every character in the novel. There were many suspects and Bailey's life is in danger as she tries to track down who was responsible for the disappearance of the woman.Interesting plot that will keep you guessing. Nice flow throughout. Kate White is an author who will grab you at the beginning and manage to hold you until the end.
