About this audiobook

America's greatest western storytellers begin the explosive new legend of Will Tanner, a U.S. deputy marshal who will risk everything to save a friend, and bring two desperados to justice . . .

The train grinds to a halt somewhere in the Indian Nations, and the bandits get onboard. They take everything on the train worth stealing and gun down a guard to make their escape-just another notch on the belt for Ben Trout and Zack Larsen, two of the most savage killers in the west. U.S. Deputy Marshal Ed Pine follows them to Muskogee. There the trail runs cold, and Ed Pine diappears. To save his friend, Deputy Will Tanner rides for Muskogee, where justice extends only as far as the range of a Colt .45.

Tanner earned his badge in a blistering gunfight, when he got the drop on a trio of killers and saved the life of another fellow marshal. Now, he'll have to be just as quick-and just as deadly. To bring in Trout and Larsen, Tanner must set his badge aside, and resort to the law of the gun.

Title: A Stranger in Town (Will Tanner #2)Author: William W. Johnstone with J. A. JohnstonePages: 352Year: 2016Publisher: PinnacleMy rating: 5 out of 5 stars. Will Tanner is a young man who is figuring out how to be a lawman when he was working on a ranch not too long ago. Now he has a mission to track down the men who shot another Deputy U.S. Marshal, Ed Pine, and left him for dead. The men Ed originally was after had robbed a train and killed a guard, so Will has that score to settle as well. He is still new at his job and prefers to work alone with no cook or posse men. Will keeps finding his mind traveling to the boarding house owner’s daughter, Sophie. She isn’t available to him but that doesn’t stop the wondering thoughts. Brock Larsen knows Will is on his trail and no matter how many times he tries to throw that law dog off, Will is like a bad penny and keeps turning up! Brock is ruthless and tries whatever way is handy to escape, and Will must decide just how far he’ll travel to grab his man and bring him to justice. The character Will Tanner is a quiet and reserved kind of guy. He is learning his job without the benefit of someone more experienced showing him the ropes. Thankfully, Will is quick with a gun but even more deadly because of his planning when he sets out after a man. Much of the adventure that readers will enjoy takes place in the Indian Nations and other close states. Will Tanner is one of my favorite male leads as he is a quiet and modest young man until he catches up with his quarry. Then, all bets are off or are they?Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
