Having been a fan of Johnstone books, it is fun to get new stories in the mail! Recently, I received the title above and dove right into the adventure of Smoke Jensen, one of my favorite western characters of the many series written by Johnstone.In the latest offering, readers get to travel back to a time when Smoke and Sally Jensen were somewhat younger, but not any slower on the draw. It is not only the quick draw that makes Smoke Jensen and Sally dangerous; it is the smarts they utilize daily. This couple opens their hearts to a young teen after being treated meanly by outlaws, and they see to her caring.Living in the west called for close family ties, the kind you can count on in times of danger and looming evil. Along with Smoke and Sally Jensen, there two hands, Cal and Pearlie, who are there to help them fight off those who aim to bring disaster to the town. When a top doctor is needed, one comes all the way from Boston to save a life!For those who love a good western, captivating, thrilling, gun smoke in the air, battles of good versus evil and more, the Johnstone authors deliver above the rest! I was thoroughly engrossed in the story and was sad when I finished the book. That is the only hard part of reading books, the ending.
