About this audiobook

From New York Times bestselling author of the “twisty-mystery” (Vulture) novel In a Dark, Dark Wood, comes The Woman in Cabin 10, an equally suspenseful and haunting novel from Ruth Ware—this time, set at sea.

In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea.

At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant, but as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the desk, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong...

With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another taut and intense read in The Woman in Cabin 10—one that will leave even the most sure-footed reader restlessly uneasy long after the last page is turned.

I enjoyed this book. The premise of the book, the descriptives were excellent , the flow of the story kept the reader wanting to know what was next. The only thing I found annoying was the constant stuttering of the heroine. She couldn’t seem to get a full sentence out. Several times I found myself saying, “ Would you just get on with it !”. Still, I would recommend it.

There was so much repetition in this book. The listener does not need to hear that the character thought XYZ over and over again throughout the book. Once or twice will suffice, not eight times. Being an editor, the repeated incorrect usage of words like "got/gotten" and "whether" stuck out harder than the so-so plot. Time to find a new author.

This was a good suspense. The narration was very good. I found the story to be very detail oriented and long. Wish it would have developed at a quicker pace.

Okay ... so I devoured this in one sitting and for whatever reason this brought me to tears?!

    WHY AM I CRYING!!??

I'm not even exaggerating about the tears but if you've read or do read this, its definitely because of the ending. It just made me feel some "fuck yeah" feels. sooo... yeah.

Other than my irrational burst of emotions here, I really liked this one. I had heard some people say this wasnt there cup of tea but again, like Dark Wood and Mrs Westaway, I was sucked into Ruth's darkly navigated... well horror story. Most people classify these books as mystery-thrillers (which is true) but they spook the crap out of me. So also horrifying; mostly because of how probable these scenarios are!

I always go into these types of stories with little to no information, because fuck spoilers and Im always able to figure stuff out, and yes I did figure everything out in this one before the narrator gave it away BUT only just as those hints were given. Never before which was awesome.

I only have The Lying Game to get through next and I can't wait.
