About this audiobook

When Claire, an overachieving psychologist with OCD tendencies, hires Lana, an impulsive, out-of-work actress for a fake relationship, she figures the worst she'll have to endure are the messes Lana leaves around. It's only for a few months anyway. And it's not as if she'll enjoy all those fake kisses and loving looks. Right?

A lesbian romance where role-playing has never been so irresistible.

Contains mature themes.

Jae

Jae grew up amidst the vineyards of southern Germany. She spent her childhood with her nose buried in a book, earning her the nickname "professor." The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven. When she's not writing, she likes to spend her time reading, indulging her ice cream and office supply addiction, and watching way too many crime shows.

This would be one of Jae's best work so far.
Narrated by one of my favourite, Angela Dawes?
Finishing this in one sitting has been a delight!

Nice faux-mance with a hint of comedy. A sequel full of Avery's coffee puns would be cool. The voice actress was the real star. Every character had their own tone and personality. One had an amazing Irish accent!

Wonderful story. Amazing chemistry and characters. I loved the switch of viewpoints, how the story progressed and the narrator was perfect. I also loved how Lana and Claire catch each other, in more ways than one. 10/10 would recommend.

Dawe, you have done it again with Lana’s narrative. Lana’s sultry voice makes me squirm just like how Claire heads over heels for her. I will never get tired of listening to this book, all over again.

Captivating & inspiring. I clung to each word dreading its end. Jae has easily become one of my favorite authors. Absolutely LOVED It! I’m hoping for a book II. The Narrator, Angela Dawe was also the voice of Perfect Rhythm who does an AMAZING job, always. Simply perfection.

I loved this. The fake dating/fake relationship trope is one of my favorites and this book executed it really well. Both of the leads were really charming and easily to like and root for (I particularly liked Claire) and the progression of them falling for each other was really sweet. Cap it off with an author that I had pretty much always enjoyed and a narrator that I adore and you’ve got yourself a great time.

The premise is good, but the story itself was a too convenient in my opinion.
It’s a light read though, so fans of lesfic romance may likely breeze through this.
As for the narrator, I’m quite confused on the voice acting at times. The narration is also fast, no need for a 1.5x speed.

I loved Claire and Lana. I especially loved Claire and Lana together. Mostly I loved Lana. But Claire got in there by mid-book.

Stuff I loved: humor, chemistry, the strangers to true love thing, Claire's family, all the good squishy feels that the growing relationship gave me.

Stuff I didn't love: cameos from many characters appearing in the Hollywood series.

I loved lots more than I didn't love. And I'll likely read it again.

Would rate it 4.5 if I could but dropped it down because of the cameos that rubbed me the wrong way.

Great read, my first from this authorI've encountered the "fake romance" trope in romcom movies before, but I think this is the first time I've read it.Claire and Lana are adorable, the story is sweet and follows a predictable path but its a fun journey, and one I'm keen to follow up with more from Jae.This is a stand-alone story but I learned after finishing it that several peripheral characters have appeared in past works from this author. More for the wishlist...

I was given this ARC by the publisher in exchange for an Honest Review. It's the story of Lana and Claire, although there are also quite a few characters from other stories of Jae's as well, chief among them Jill and Crash (woo!!).But, it is definitely Lana and Claire's story. Claire is a psychologist who has very recently been broken up with by her fiancee, and needs to find a new one so that she can get a book deal and someday hopefully take over for her mentor/boss where she works. Her agent finds her Lana to play the role of girlfriend and fiancee until Claire gets the book deal. It's rocky at first since they are such different people and awkward because, well, faked relationships generally start out really awkward. But, they slowly become friends and then we get the back and forth of the fake turning to real. Is it really real, or still fake, is one feeling realer than the other. I thought Jae did really well with that part of the book too. I was never quite sure how or a little part of me thought, if, everything would work out Happily Ever After either.I really liked the book. And aside from a small bit of the beginning when I couldn't stand Lana (I generally root for those characters who are portrayed as work oriented and getting kicked in the teeth metaphorically for it), but as the book went on I found she grew on me.A fun read with some new and some old characters.
