About this audiobook

Lady Charlotte Featherington is destined for great things on the marriage market. After all, as the beautiful daughter of a marquess, she should have her pick of the eligible nobility when she debuts. She, however, has love at the top of her list of marriageable attributes. And her romantic heart falls hard for one particularly dashing, attentive suitor. Sadly for Charlotte, her noble father intends her betrothed to be someone far more dull.

William Hartwell may be a duke, but he knows he was Charlotte's father's pick, not the young lady's own choice. And the captivating Lady Charlotte does not strike him as a woman who will be wooed by his wealth or title. While she has captured his heart, he has no idea how to win hers in return-and the betrayal and scandal his first wife put him through makes it difficult for him to believe that love can ever be trusted. His only hope is that Charlotte's sense of responsibility will win out over her romantic notions.

Can a widowed duke and a romantically inclined lady negotiate a future and discover love beyond duty? Will they be able to find healing and hope from the legacy of grace?

Poignant and charming, this is another beautifully written, clean and wholesome Regency romance from Carolyn Miller in the tradition of Georgette Heyer and Julie Klassen. Fans of The Elusive Miss Ellison will meet compelling new characters-and a few old friends.

I am new to Ms. Miller's work but I will tell you now, I will not be missing any more of her work! She is fabulous! I came into this series on this second book, but I wasn't confused in anyway and I loved Charlotte and the Duke so very much. I am a big fan of the regency era when I read historical books so this book is going on my keeper shelf for sure.?Charlotte's character really gripped me. I loved how Ms. Miller portrayed her and her unsuredness in having to choose who to marry if there aren't feelings there. I really felt for her so much through this story. And the Duke!! Oh my heavens, yes please! I loved his character possibly more than I loved Charlotte's! He's a Godly character and I loved that in him, as it's often times you see the women in stories as the more Godly ones. These characters truly came together in a wonderful way and I was so excited to feel a part of the regency era, watching them come to light in the faith and feelings!?I definitely recommend this book to all historical romance lovers. It's the perfect blend of hope, longing, faith and God's timing, and love. The characters will quickly become a part of you and you will get lost in a society of regency. This is 5 star worthy in my opinion and I can't wait to go back and read book one, as well as anxious for the next faith-filled novel from this talented author.?*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kregel Publications and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*

Very good. There was just one thing I thought incorrect. I felt that the aristocracy
Would have been fluent in French.

It was an ok book, good start, not boring but the religious aspect is too much. I'm ok with it being a part of a book but here it's mentioned soo much this should maybe be categorised as a religious book.

The 2 stars are for the attempt at realistic Christian life and people that includes mistakes and a normal range of human emotion. The heroine holds out way too long and the plot points seem contrived. This book could have been cut back to a short story and not lost anything worthwhile.

Saturday, August 5, 2017The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn Miller, © 2017Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace, Book 2My Review:After reading the first book in the series, The Elusive Miss Ellison, I was looking forward to this second story in the series.I immediately was surprised to find the Marchioness dropping in for an extended visit unannounced under a pretense of being looked-for... as if the estate owner is just in wait for her arrival, rather than attending to the needs of the day. She did send a letter ahead, but its arrival has barely made it before her."...Then we shall wait."--The Captivating Lady Charlotte, 211Lady Charlotte Featherington certainly doesn't have the qualities of her Mama, which assuredly is a good thing! Without recommendation to her own thoughts and cares, Lady Charlotte is to fit into everyone else's plans and decisions for her. Fortunately, as her future looms before her, this current plan has merit. Well worth waiting for her to find it so beyond what is seen. For her unplanned adventure may unfold exactly as it should, a surprise even to herself. To be young and pensive, certain the ninth Duke of Hartington is much older... Her heart is so exposed as he sees her spared from contrived bias. An aspiration of hope and benefit to his life ~ his very livelihood.Mystery surrounds Hartwell Abbey as whispers and immediate family critiquing for their own means seek to destroy steps toward the desired relationship of assurance and trust.Author Carolyn Miller has built a story so soundly developed, the outcome is not assured as rosy. I look forward to reading the continuing story in the series of Grace by this author!***Thank you to Kregel Blog Tours for inviting me on the tour for Carolyn Miller's novel, The Captivating Lady Charlotte, and for sending me a copy. Charlotte was caught up in a time of gaiety and youth. She was being presented to society and the world was her oyster. She is beautiful, her father a marquess, and every handsome titled young man is competing for her attention. What young girls head wouldn’t be whirling?! In youth we have our dreams and plans, having no doubt they will come to pass simply because we want them to. As Lady Charlotte learns life does not always follow our script. Her head is quickly turned by a dashingly handsome, charming friend of her brothers. She is sure he is “the one”. Her brother knows him and says no but his opinion doesn’t count. It’s her parents and they put an end to all of it believing the best match for her is a not so handsome, rather dull widower, ten years older than her. You can image how crushed and devastated she is. She cringes at the thought of a marriage without love in the name of money and social station. Her chosen suitor, Duke William Hartington, is a godly man of integrity and faith. He has sadly been through great pain with his deceased wife’s infidelities. He is attracted to Charlotte but his former wife was younger too and he is afraid to trust any women, and certainly with his heart. This a unique historical romance as you can already realize. It was beautiful to see Charlotte mature from a flighty young girl to a woman that sees the true values that should be present in marriage and that love isn’t just feelings but actions too. William is an epitome of kindness, patience, and true love with her during this process. The story meant even more by its focus on trusting God for His plans in our lives. The scriptures mentioned and prayers by William truly make a spiritual impression. The book even includes a bit of mystery and danger.I thoroughly enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the surroundings and social ways of the very wealthy during that era. Something I always look for in an historical novel! A book you will want to read.I received this book from Kregel Publication in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I have stated are my own.

I didn't use to read Regency books but I have found that they are enchanting , graceful and full of history. This book has all those qualities and then some. I love reading about royalty and the time period the book is set in. Charlotte is a wonderful character full of life and easily captivated the hearts of many . As she walk by with grace, I can hear hearts pounding with anticipation. She is a catch, but who will steal her heart? Charlotte's parents have high standards for their daughter's suitor. I can just imagine the men of high caliber dressed in their best attire trying to catch a glimpse from Charlotte.I did find the man that Charlotte wanted to marry to be quite intriguing. What are you to do when your heart says one thing, but your parents say another? Charlotte finds herself learning that love is something deeper than just looks. . It's how you feel when you see them, and how you want to be with them all the time and you love them unconditionally. I thought at times that Charlotte had a bit of growing up to do . The author did touch on that and I loved how she slowly showed Charlotte mature into an eloquent young woman. I must admit that there were times where I wasn't sure what was going on. I kinda got lost in all the shuffling of characters and their roles. Overall the book is a nice read and the characters are interesting. I know I will be looking for the next book in this series. The author has piqued my interest in this family and I have to read more about them. I received a copy of this book from Kregel Publishing Blog Tours. The review is my own opinion.

Book two of the Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace, The Captivating Lady Charlotte is just as good as the first book in this series, and kept me page turning to the end. We are brought up to date with cousin Livvie, and again meet the person who will be focused on in the third book Miss DeLacey, and now I can’t wait for that book. This time it is cousin Charlotte’s turn, and she has her coming out and presentation to the queen, and she sure does turn heads, and not all of the young men are up to the standards that her parents want for her. Then we learn about William Harwell, a duke, and recent widower, but when all is said will he meet up to the standards set by her family, or will the gossip keep coming. Then there are terrible things happening at the duke’s estate, and it seems someone wants to do him harm, why are these horrible things occurring, and who is doing them.We again get to see the countryside of old England, 1814 to be exact, and things are quite different and the royalty live a rather luscious life style.Once you state to peruse this book you will not be able to leave it alone, it is that good.I received this book through Kregel Publishing Blogger Program, and was not required to give a positive review.

The Captivating Lady Charlotte by Carolyn MillerStarts out with William, the duke and he's lost his wife during a complication to birth. The child is not his and he despised his wife for cheating on her with many.Other chapters alternate and follow Lady Charlotte and her mother is trying to get her married off. Her brother Henry is a big help and he even brings suitors home for her.She is quite taken with Markham. Visits are set up with her cousin Lavinia and she does meet the Duke William. So many controversies about his wifes' death, curse on his house, unexplained sightings, things heard, etc.Love the mysteries surrounding everything and how they all come together at the end. Especially love the scenes with the gardens in them and details about the flowers and how they are grown, etc.God is prayed to quite often from all different characters as they lean on him for support and guidance. Love the authors notes about the gardens in the older days. Love the secret passage ways.Took me 4 times as long to read this book because the font size was not very dark and the size was a lot smaller-10 or 12 size font. I had to wear my regular glasses and a set of 3.5 readers and could only read for 20 pages at a time.I was given this review book by the author via Book Fun (The Book Club Network) and this is my honest review.
