About this audiobook

No one is more surprised than Lord North when he returns from war to find his ex-fiancee in his ancestral home...working as a governess in a sexy, fiery new Wildes of Lindow Castle romance by New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James...

The handsome, rakish heir to a dukedom, Lord Roland Northbridge Wilde—known to his friends as North—left England two years ago, after being jilted by Miss Diana Belgrave. He returns from war to find that he’s notorious: polite society has ruled him “too wild to wed.”

Diana never meant to tarnish North’s reputation, or his heart, but in her rush to save a helpless child, there was no time to consider the consequences of working as a governess in Lindow Castle. Now everyone has drawn the worst conclusions about the child’s father, and Diana is left with bittersweet regret.

When North makes it clear that he still wants her for his own, scandal or no, Diana has to fight to keep from losing her heart to the man whom she still has no intention of marrying.

Yet North is returning a hardened warrior—and this is one battle he’s determined to win.

He wants Diana, and he’ll risk everything to call her his own.

Eloisa James is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author and professor of English literature, who lives with her family in New York, but can sometimes be found in Paris or Italy. She is the mother of two and, in a particularly delicious irony for a romance writer, is married to a genuine Italian knight.

Good book. Not as nice as the Essex sisters stories but good enough.

I particularly did enjoy this audiobook too wild to weds. Beautiful Beautifully told. Additionally, Lord Roland Northbridge Wilde returns from the war in the colonies to find himself rivaling his brother Alaric (Wilde in Love) as the subject of scandalous prints. The rumor that North forced his attentions on his fiancée and abandoned her and her bastard child is just the sort of outrageous tale in which the London elite delight. The report that the disgraced Diana Belgrave is now a servant in the Wilde household makes the story more titillating. Diana never intended for anyone to believe that her orphaned nephew was North’s child, but she was only a step away from destitution when North’s aunt offered her the position of governess at Lindow Castle. Diana, a sort of reverse Cinderella, is happier as a servant than she ever was as North’s betrothed. Having found herself, she has no interest in conforming to societal expectations of a future duchess, no matter how tempting she finds the new, more forthcoming North. With James’s trademark wit, sensuality, and engaging characters, Too Wilde to Wed will leave readers rooting for North and Diana to resolve their dilemma and eager for the next Wilde novel.

2.5 stars rounded up. I didn't care for this heroine. She's hopelessly ignorant of some basic stuff, and that doesn't really end up changing even by the end, but that's not entirely her fault, so I could move past that alone. But also she's impulsive and doesn't think before acting. And generally makes some pretty shoddy choices. So it ended up being a considerable pile of flaws really. Also I found the hero's feelings believable, but didn't really connect with hers so she came off kind of wishy-washy up until the very end. He deserved someone who loved him back more. The heroine is very opposed to anything that could be seen an charity, but she was fine lying to get her post (even when it would likely hurt an innocent person's reputation and emotionally manipulate many people), and then we see repeatedly that she is not even very good at it! So the fact they allow her to stay on and pay her a generous wage is already charity really, and she never realizes it. So it made all her other protestations, sometimes unnecessary to begin with, ring king of 'off'. Her best quality is being nurturing I suppose, but several of the best examples of that behavior, directed toward the hero, were motivated by guilt, so they didn't seem as genuine to her. Besides the heroine, I didn't like how the hero kept destroying her clothing just because he didn't like it on her. That wasn't his place and was disrespectful of her. I could get over a single instance, being thoughtless or something, but he kept at it and never did seem to see the problem. Kinda on the low end of acceptable, but it wasn't a slog to get through of anything.

Well, I am now an inveterate and unrepentant fan of the Wildes. This one seemed so ludicrous in premise (because really, aristocrats are not known for taking in their bastards and their bastard's mum under any circumstances), but it was so satisfying to read these characters and watch them sort out all the tangles. Nope, not her kid, or his, for that matter. Yep, lots of lovely new Wildes of all ages to meet and enjoy. Great fun!

Historical romance set during the Georgian era in which North, an heir to a dukedom, is jilted and goes to the colonies to fight on the British side in the war of Independence. When he returns he discovers that his former fiancee, Diana Belgrave, is living on the family estate where she now works as the governess and has brought along a young boy whom everyone assumes is North's son. It was solid read and I enjoyed it but a few of Diana's impulsive adventures struck me as beyond the realm of believability - which in a historical romance takes a quite a bit. I am willing to read more Eloisa James after this experience, which is always a good sign.

WOW! Eloisa James always delivers with a great read, I've yet to pick up one of her stories and not come away smiling and being so thrilled to have read the story. TOO WILDE TO WED is no different. The characters are well written and engaging. Their story is heartfelt, funny, romantic, sweet and hot all at the same time. Watching these two find out who the other truly is was a WILD ride. The secondary characters will keep you laughing, and so eager to read their stories. I can't wait for more from the Wilde family! Fans of wonderfully written engaging Historical Romances are sure to find TOO WILDE TO WED a true pleasure. Yes there are moments you'll want to shake both the hero and heroine but in the end you can't help be happy to see their ending......and yet sad to turn the last page. I highly recommend this one for everyone! I can't wait to see what's next for this family.

At the end of the book Wilde in Love, Lord Roland Northbridge Wilde, otherwise known as North, was engaged to be married to Miss Diana Belgrave. He had completely redone his wardrobe to dress in ridiculous clothes that some would consider high fashion just to capture Diana's eye because she was considered the most fashionably dressed woman of the ton. While engaged she always seemed to be trying to escape him, but they shared a kiss that sent sparks flying. Then she mysteriously left without a note, not even taking her clothing and jewelry, and the engagement was broken off. He searched high and low for her and finally found her in a cottage with a child. He left angry before she could say anything and bought a commision in the military and went off to fight in the war with the colonies in America. Now it's 1780 and he's coming home and everyone's worried because Diana's been living all this time in Lindow Castle as a governess to the children and a nanny to Artie the toddler while also taking care of Godfrey who is her nephew and at the age of almost four doesn't speak. When Aunt Knowe went and found her and demanded that she come and live with them, Diana let them think that the child was North's and insisted that she earn her way as a governess for the children and a nanny for Artie the Duchess's toddler. The ton believes that North ravished or raped Diana and left her with a child and that she is forced to work as a nanny. When North is apprised of the situation he is determined to fix it by finding a relative of either hers or Godfrey's to come and help her. Maybe even set her up in a cottage somewhere with Godfrey and take care of her himself. He finds that he is still in love with Diana and is determined to get her to marry him, but Diana does not want to be a Duchess and North is next in line to become Duke when his father dies. North does not want to be Duke. It was supposed to be his older brother Horatius, but he died. Diana is the kind of person who rushes in and does things and says things before thinking. She does not know how to make change and she hates fancy parties and such. She keeps telling him that she would make a lousy Duchess and more to the point she would hate being one so she refuses his offer of marriage. What are the two of them to do? North has been haunted by what he saw during the war and Diana has been his salve helping him to eat and sleep again when he is with her. How will he manage without her? Will Diana give in and decide to become North's Duchess after all? Or will she take the cottage he will offer her? And what of Godfrey's relatives? Diana is a delight and keeps things lively with her antics. North is different in this book. He is less stiff and formal and sexier. You feel for the man who is still suffering from the war. This is such a great series. These books really seem to get better as you go along. I really can't wait to read the next one, Wilde For You when it comes out. It promises to be the best one yet. I really loved this book and I cannot recommend it enough.

North Wilde is the heir to the dukedom. He was jilted in the first book of the series and found his ex-fiancee Diana in a small cottage with a baby not his, so he leaves to fight in America. Now he's returned and finds Diana working as a nursery maid at his father's estate. He's still in love with her but finds her much changed from the powdered and pampered woman he was engaged to. Diana also is much struck by the changes in North; in order to win her, he had been equally fashionable which is not his real character and now he's acting as his real self.I love North but I have a lot of trouble with Diana. Her behavior here is often ridiculous and her insistence on not wanting to be a Duchess becomes tiresome. I also found the ending pretty trite, wrapped up in a way that didn't make much sense for a ducal family.I do like the Wildes family with the numerous and varied progeny from the Duke's three wives though I suspect the next book is going to be about Diana's cousin and the adopted son which I suspect is one I may skip.

Oh goodness, this one was wonderful! After reading the first book in the series ( Wilde in Love ) I was beyond anxious to find out what would happen in North and Diana's book. I am happy to report that it did not disappoint! (There are all kinds of teasers for their story in book one, though if you haven't read it yet, you do find out all the important details here, so no worries. Seriously, though, read the first book too--this series is so good, y'all! I can't tell you how glad I am that the head of the family is so...fecund ;) So many more books to look forward to...) Even though North and Diana were engaged for a good portion of the first book, it turns out that neither of them really knew the other person very well. They didn't know each other at all, really--so watching them get reacquainted here is nothing short of delicious. As in book one, so many scenes that have more than one Wilde family member in them were laugh-out-loud funny. The youngest Wilde sibling, Artie (short for Artemisa), is absolutely delightful, whether she's spending time with Diana, Godfrey (Diana's nephew), Livinia (Diana's cousin), North, or her mother Ophelia. When the Duke and his wife bring back many of North's younger siblings to welcome him home--expect (hilarious) mayhem. Once again, scandalous Lord Wilde prints will be used for creative purposes. And don't even get me started on the Wilde family trip to the Beetle & Cheese...OMG :)For much of the book, it was hard to see how North and Diana would be able to end up together. Even though they clearly had fantastic chemistry and truly cared for each other, she really didn't want to be a duchess, and he is next in line for the title. Can this relationship be saved? (Spoiler: yes, of course; it's an Eloisa James book!) A word of warning: the final chapter will practically have you salivating for the next book in the series ( Born to Be Wilde ), but you'll have to wait until the end of July to read it. I'm sure Ms. James will make it worth the wait, though!Rating: 4 1/2 stars / AI voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I just loved Diana and North! I have been looking forward to reading their story since finishing the first book in the series, Wilde in Love. This book would work perfectly well as a stand alone but the ending of the first book really had me eager to read this second installment. I went into this book with pretty high expectations and they were all surpassed. I really had a fantastic time reading this book.Diana and North were previously betrothed until Diana left without warning. When Diana left, North decided to join the military and went off to war. Diana had reasons for leaving the way she did and has paid a steep price for her decision. When she runs out of options, Diana takes a job as a governess at Lindow Castle with North's family. Things get really interesting when North returns home and learns all of the rumors surrounding his relationship with Diana.I loved the characters in this book. In the first book, we were introduced to the Diana and North that were for show but in this book we finally get to meet their true selves. I liked getting to know the real Diana and North and enjoyed watching both of them really get to know each other. It was interesting to watch them both realize that they really knew very little of each other when they had plans to marry. Diana and North both prove to be strong people who will sacrifice to do what is right. I thought that the chemistry between them was extremely well done.It was really interesting to learn about all of the things that happened that brought both Diana and North to their current life situation. North has fought a war and takes his responsibility as heir very seriously. Diana's story was very interesting and I loved the fact that she was willing to give up so much in order to protect someone she loves. They are both very responsible people who tend to put the needs of others above their own. I had a great time watching them both get their happily ever after.I would recommend this book to fans of historical romance. This was such a smartly written romance filled with character you couldn't help but cheer on. I can't wait to read more of this fantastic series.I received a digital review copy of this book from Avon Books via Edelweiss.

Diana fled her engagement to the duke's heir, who then took a regiment to the American colonies. When North returned, he found Diana and her young nephew ensconsed at the family castle, but not as guests; instead, Diana is acting as governess. She likes to work and would hate being a duchess. This is a problem because they find themselves falling in love again, this time with the reality of each other.Enjoyable, but not quite as good as the first in the series.
