About this audiobook

Jack Miller isn't too worried about the apocalypse. He has been prepping for a few years and has a basement stocked with the food and supplies his family needs to ride out a disaster. Today though, he is out of town on a business trip. An EMP strike delivered by a rogue nation leaves him stranded over a thousand miles away from his home. This is the last place he expected to be during a disaster. He sets out on an epic journey home armed only with his know how and survival skills. What he encounters leaves him questioning how prepared any lone man can be.

Amy Miller is all set to enjoy a well deserved vacation day. She's a hard working mother of two with a full time career and rarely has a quiet moment to herself. The EMP throws a wrench in the works and leaves her unprepared for the chaos to follow. With the city falling down around her ears, she is pushed to the limit. Her suburban home is well stocked with supplies, but she clings to the hope that order will be restored. Faced with the darker side of humanity, will she overcome her inhibitions and do whatever it takes to protect her family?

Contains mature themes.

You can tell the author has zero life skills. Apparently canned dog food is horrific if you're literally starving to death and he can't believe he's eating squirrel of all things ?. It's utterly stupid and completely not realistic for a supposed "prepper" at all. If you can get past how dumb the main characters are the book is entertaining though.

Ok.. I live in marble hill Missouri. Which was mentioned in the story line. Why oh why don’t authors or editors take the time to look at a map. The guy walking from Kansas City across Missouri is going to cross the MISSOURI River at Cape Girardeau!?!? Really? This kind of mistake bothers me.

This story gripped me from the very beginning and I listen to the whole thing in one day it held my attention it was well written a lot of thought went into the story plot the characters were fleshed out all together wonderful and I can't wait to start the next in this series of books... And I think I'm going to start it right now I'm sure I'll fall asleep but I got all day tomorrow too excellent a good way to start... I can't wait to pick up the journey... Where it left off in the first book.

This is a good book I couldn't stop listening. It was too short though there should be a part 2 I want to know if they make it to the home stead.

Good story, corny at times, but well done.
Does a good job pointing out how just reading and buying gear can give you a false sense of competence. Gotta get out and do stuff.

This is my favorite genre but I thought this was a dud. The main characters were so unbelievable and the situations they found themselves in were pretty ridiculous. The main character gets sick, hurt, gets an infection, loses fingers, then he walks and bikes across the USA, eating only squirrels and weeds. Instead of becoming weaker, he becomes so strong he can take out gang members with a broom handle. His wife gives up the truck that still runs without putting up a fight. The neighbors are mentioned a few times early on and then they are just gone with no explanation. There are just so many unanswered questions. Where did Wyatt get ether to perform the amputation? Why did Wyatt show himself when he knew the horseman was going to rob them? All kinds of things that made no sense kept happening with no explanation. This was not a great read. I was disappointed.

So, amy is a F idiot, with a capital F. Her survival makes this a fantasy of incredible proportions.
