How far would you go to find The One?
A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab and soon you’ll be matched with your perfect partner—the one you’re genetically made for.
That’s the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance and love.
Now five very different people have received the notification that they’ve been “Matched.” They’re each about to meet their one true love. But “happily ever after” isn’t guaranteed for everyone. Because even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking than others…
A word-of-mouth hit in the United Kingdom, The One is a fascinating novel that shows how even the simplest discoveries can have complicated consequences.

Editor's Note
Dramatic, “Black Mirror”-esque…
The TV adaptation of John Marrs’ thriller takes a lot of liberties, but the main plot is the same: Set in the near future, a new DNA test can match you with your ideal mate. But the fairytale stops there, as homes and marriages are destroyed and dark secrets are revealed. Both the book and the TV series follow the lives of five characters who’ve been notified of their matches and must see them through in a dramatic, “Black Mirror”-esque chain of events.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5absolutely brilliant. from the get go the concept was worked out true and broadly, following many ramifications of the tech that is the issue of this book. I haven't read many books as engrossing as this one. definitely six stars.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Finally a story that is unique and original with stories and characters that keep you interested in what is happening, what will happen, and how it all ends. My only knock was that I didn't want it to end, but it did and it had just the right ending to being it all to a close. Great novel!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a fantastic book! Dating sites are a thing of the past in this novel and MatchDNA is the way people find love. People send in their DNA swabs and who they are matched with is indiscriminate. It could be people of the same sex, different ages and generations or even people from across the world. The story focuses on 5 different characters who each find their DNA match. I enjoyed each character’s story. The novel is both character driven and suspense novel!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Once you get past the absurd science behind the premise, it's a fun book. You follow 5 separate couples, with their own unique situations, with each "scene" ending in a cliff hanger/plot twist, like a miniseries.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent!! Kept to from first page to last - and that’s not easy to do!! Bravo - tour de force!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5It started off pretty well, but halfway through, it took a nose dive. I was getting irritated with the characters' stupidity, so I stopped listening.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good, but fairly predictable. Ending more macabre than I expected, though.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Interesting storyline with multiple interesting characters. I enjoyed listening to. It wasn’t sure where it was going until the end. A good read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So many twists and turns! Kept me guessing till the end!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved this book as much as the last two I listened to. They start out so ordinary and suddenly there are things happening you never could imagine.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I wanted to like this as an audiobook but the voices are SOOOOOOOO annoying. I was only about 10 minutes in and had to stop. I will try the print version.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Woah! Really great book. It's hard at first to keep up with the characters but definitely worth the listen. Nick's narrator takes loud breaths before each line and was a little annoying. Still worth the listen!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The author does a splendid job devoting a chapter to each character’s storyline and keeping things interesting by ending each chapter on a cliffhanger. It certainly worked for me and kept me listening, taking a break only to work and sleep. The book reads more like a play and it is mainly dialogue so if that’s not your thing, you’ll likely not enjoy it as much. However, I enjoyed it, even though some of the storylines seemed implausible.
One thing that I found extremely annoying was listening to the narrator for the character, Nick. His sharp, audible intakes of breath, and unnatural style of narration almost had me skipping forward for each of Nick’s chapters. I lost interest in this character because of my irritation with the narrator.
I recommend this book as an easy, exciting read. I’m tempted to read more books from this author. Completely loved the ending. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent read and even better narration! I was riveted from the very first chapter! The way the author has woven many storylines with so many different plot twists and surprises… so engaging! Highly recommend!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Wow wow wow so many more characters were killed off than was necessary
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Incredible book, looking forward to reading other books from this author!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic! Best book I’ve read in a while. Unique storyline and satisfying ending.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very good. Much needed different type of book and story than many others. Definitely recommend a listen!
