About this audiobook
From the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Witching Savannah series comes the story of a young witch’s quest to uncover her family’s terrifying history...
Magic is seeping out of the world, leaving the witches who’ve relied on it for countless centuries increasingly hopeless. While some see an inevitable end of their era, others are courting madness—willing to sacrifice former allies, friends, and family to retain the power they covet. While the other witches watch their reality unravel, young Alice Marin is using magic’s waning days to delve into the mystery of numerous disappearances in the occult circles of New Orleans. Alice disappeared once, too—caged in an asylum by blood relatives. Recently freed, she fears her family may be more involved with the growing crisis than she ever dared imagine.
Yet the more she seeks the truth about her family’s troubled history, the more she realizes her already-fragile psyche may be at risk. Discovering the cause of the vanishings, though, could be the only way to escape her mother’s reach while determining the future of all witches.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing characters and story. Loved it. On to book two!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I wish a POC would have narrated. I just think it would have brought a lot to the book. Other than that I enjoyed the book.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I wanted to love this book but the story line is very confusing. I don’t understand who belongs to what family, or what relationships are connected. And the narration lacked, with it sounding like some of the parts were re-recorded after completion, words mispronounced, some names and words pronounced differently in different parts of the story. I didn’t finish the book as it just became background noise since I couldn’t follow.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I’m currently listening to the book. I like the story but find that you have to listened carefully to keep up with character and story changes. My bigger struggle is the narration of this book. It’s very monotonous, the characters aren’t convincingly brought to life. The story would have been easier to follow if the narration of the characters personalities were differentiated.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I would have given 4 stars if it was just for the story, but the audiobook was edited pretty poorly. At some point, sections of the book seem to be skipped and chapter changes were not announced. With a couple of intersecting storylines, this was very confusing. Story itself has some gory points, and is a bit on the horror side, which I enjoy, but I know it’s not for everyone.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I loved his other books. I could not get into these. The jumping around so much without any explanation between characters was enough. You couldn't really catch footing with anyone them because of it. But the other part is, far far far more descriptive on things in the story like what they are wearing, and eating off, blah blah, that have no bearing on building the story. And then the narration was jumping from I would assume multiple recordings of it, and was pieced together. It was a rough listen. Hopefully more books like the witches of savannah series come from him. Because those were great.
