About this audiobook

Police officer Isabelle St. John loves her crazy, loud, law-enforcement family. With three brothers and two sisters, she's never without someone to hang out with-or fight with. And she knows they'll be there for her when things get tough. Like when her partner is murdered and she barely escapes with her own life.

Determined to discover exactly what happened, Izzy's investigation sends her headfirst into a criminal organization, possibly with cops on the payroll-including someone from her own family. With her dead partner's handsome homicide detective brother Ryan shadowing her every move, Izzy's head is spinning. How can she secure justice for her partner when doing so could mean sending someone she loves to prison? And how will she guard her heart when the man she's had a secret crush on for years won't leave her side?

I am a huge Lynette Eason fan. I especially enjoyed her Hidden Identity and Elite Guardians series. This first book in her Blue Justice series has an interesting premise, lots of suspense and some unexpected surprises. It is the book that introduces us to the St. John family, a family of eight, largely made up of law enforcement officers. It focuses on Izzy St. John and a long-time family friend, Detective Ryan Marshall who is also the brother of Izzy’s murdered partner, Kevin Marshall. Their pursuit of Kevin’s murderer draws them into an investigation involving organized crime and dirty cops, some of which might be very close to home. While I did enjoy the book, and would recommend it, there were spots where I felt like I’d missed something, reread, and still felt like a piece was missing. These were few and far between, and I still thoroughly enjoyed this newest offering by Eason. I thank NetGalley and Baker Publishing Group for providing me with a copy of Oath of Honor in exchange for this honest review. I received no financial compensation.

Oath of Honor is the first book in the Blue Justice series and wow am I hooked! I loved getting to know the St. John family because they are all great characters who are memorable and bring a lot to the story. The focus of book one was on officer Isabelle St. John and I was surprised at the impact this story had on my emotions from the start. Being Christian fiction, I did not expect the hardness of the situations that occurred but I was amazed at the emotions that were drawn from me. I definitely felt for Isabelle when her partner was murdered and she was wrapped up in the aftermath.Isabelle and her partner had been friends since childhood and their families were also close as well. This was no easy situation and her partner’s brother Ryan did not make the situation easy on Isabelle either. He did not take the loss of his brother well and was demanding more answers that Isabelle could give. Determined to understand the situation herself, Isabelle started digging into the facts surrounding the case and she quickly realized that there were some sinister dealings happening within the police force and Isabelle did not know whom she could trust.Ryan was reeling from the death of his brother, especially difficult was his wondering what motivated his brother to take the risk. Even though he knew that Isabelle was not at fault he could not help his anger towards her. Ryan was determined that he would find the one who killed his brother and he would end him! While on the hunt for his brother’s killer it became apparent that Isabelle had kicked a hornet’s nest of some kind and that she was in danger. Ryan may have been angry at Isabelle but he didn’t want anything to happen to her either. Figuring that together they could get more done, they teamed up.While working together, both Isabelle and Ryan realized that there was a certain chemistry between them (although Isabelle had had a long time crush on Ryan) but they had little time to explore that realization because someone wanted Isabelle dead and they weren’t going to stop until they had what they wanted. As Isabelle and Ryan dug deeper, the attempts on Isabelle’s life grew quite dastardly, but they did not let that stop them. They had to uncover the truth no matter what the cost and when the truth was revealed it hit closer to home then they could have ever imagined and would rock the police force to its very core! The action in Oath of Honor was exciting, intense, and many times I wondered if things were going truly work out for the characters. I was kept on the edge of my seat with suspense and there was a darker edge to this story that I was never expecting. I absolutely loved this story and it hit all the right notes for me! This will be a series that I happily continue! There was indeed a romance element in this story as well as faith element but they were both balanced quite nicely with the suspense element being the show stopper. For fans of Author Dee Henderson, I cannot recommend this book enough to you! Oath of Honor was the kind of story that kept me on my toes from beginning to end with all the right elements packed into a thrilling ride of twists and turns with an outcome that was shocking, what fun!

Title: Oath of Honor (Blue Justice #1)Author: Lynette EasonPages: 362Year: 2018My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.Isabelle St. John, or Izzy, is one of six children, most of whom are involved in law enforcement. Her mother is the Chief of Police and her father is a lawyer. She has been raised around the law and God her whole life. Her neighbors are the Marshalls and they also have two sons on the police force. She has grown up with the Marshall boys and the youngest is Kevin, her partner on the force and a rookie. While on a stakeout, Kevin make an impulsive decision that costs him his life. Izzy has lost her partner and best friend. Ryan, Kevin’s older brother, now grieves a second brother’s death as his older brother died from an IED deployed by terrorists.Izzy and Ryan work to find the identity of the shooter and discover there is much more going on than meets the eye. Izzy’s name is on a list with other cops, and one of her brothers asks her if she is a “dirty cop”. Who compiled this list? Are the other cops “dirty”? One brother won’t return her calls or texts, but has said he is working undercover. However, her mother, the Chief of Police, has no knowledge of an undercover operation. So, what’s up with him? There is a political race for mayor happening at the same time as Izzy’s investigation. Izzy’s friend is involved with the challenging competitor’s campaign, but something seems different about her.Lynette Eason has written another stellar beginning story for her new series! There is plenty of action and tense-filled moments for the reader who likes suspense. There is also a mystery for the mystery lover, as well as a romance for the romantic. Izzy has grit and perseverance to find her partner’s killer. Ryan shares that same determination to find his brother’s killer. Both characters have a strong faith in God that they must rely on as they cope with their grief. Lynette has an ability to weave the faith of her characters into the story seamlessly, and shows them living their faith not just talking about it. This is a tale that will have readers turning pages quickly to see what excitement awaits them!

I revived this book as a librarything giveaway. I enjoyed this book and by the end I didn't want to put it down so that I could find out what was going to happen. It was confusing in that there were a LOT of characters to keep track of. There were also hints along the way about a kidnapping in the past. It felt like this was the second in the series and we should have understood that kidnapping already. I don't believe this was the case. The characters themselves felt real and had faults as well as good characteristics. The sped at which the investigation took place was completely unrealistic. Getting warrants, lab results, bank information, following leads etc etc takes far longer than portrayed here. All that being said, I did enjoy the book and would read another book by this author

Whew! Another intense release from Lynette Eason!

First off, can we talk about this cover? I. Adore. It. I, of course, had to have the paperback. And after I ordered it, I camped in front of my mailbox for two days until it arrived. (The benefits of Amazon Prime . . .)

The characters. Right away, I loved Izzy and her crazy, awesome family. The banter between the siblings throughout reminding me of my own large, crazy family. Izzy was a very sweet, relatable character. Ryan was also great, and I loved his storyline and character arc. I feel like overall, the characters were a little lacking, but I still greatly enjoyed it. The focus was a lot more on the story than the characters, and since I'm such a character-person, I was a little disappointed.

The story was fabulous, and kept you guessing until the very last second. I really didn't want one of Izzy's family members to be dirty, and I'm so glad they weren't! I could not put this book down, and finished it in less than 24 hours. So so good! There was never a slow moment.

All in all, I really enjoyed Eason's newest release! Highly recommended!

CONTENT NOTE: Recommended for ages 16 for violence and mature themes. There is quite a bit of violence and peril, as you would expect from a suspense book. Characters are attacked, held at gunpoint or knifepoint, almost thrown off buildings, etc. The MC non-sexually assaulted in the past, which was extremely traumatic. There is also some romance, attraction, etc.

Lynette Eason is one of my new favorite authors for her ability to combine mystery/suspense with a touch of romance. This book focuses on Isabelle (Izzy) St. John and Ryan Marshall. I listened to the CD audiobook version and CDs 2 & 3 were apparently mislabeled by whoever produced them for the library versions. This made for quite a bit of confusion when inserting what was supposed to be disc 2 and having it start with Ryan's partner, Ryan, and Izzy interviewing the Gills (people that I had no idea who they were or how they fit into the story at that point--because all that was covered in the material on CD 3). I even pulled out the CD to make sure I hadn't inserted the CDs in the wrong order and confirmed it said Disc 2. It wasn't until I started Disc 3 that I realized the two were transposed. Both Ryan and Izzy have to deal with family trauma in this book. Both families have strong support for each other, so I know they will pull through the rough spots. Izzy seems to have a magnetic attraction to trouble. In addition to a hushed up kidnapping event that occurred prior to this book, she gets dangled from a building, shot at, strangled, almost blown up, and hanging from a helicopter. You pretty much know that Ryan and Izzy will get together since much is made that both of them are attracted to each other. Ryan has held off because Izzy's twin Derek warned him off ever dating her, but the more he's around her, the harder he finds it. I didn't see the twist of who was behind the scheme that permeates the book. I had to find out the clues along with the characters. In a couple cases I realized significance slightly before the author had the characters put it together, but in most cases I did not. I was glad to see that Kevin Marshall's and Johnathan Gill's idea come to fruition in the epilogue. I would (and have) read more by this author.

Oath of Honor is the first book in a new series, Blue Justice, by Lynette Eason. I enjoyed reading it. The plot moved along at a quick pace, with lots of twists and turns that added to the mystery and kept me guessing until the end. The characters were believable and well developed. This is the first book I have read by this author – but it won’t be the last! I am looking forward to reading the next one in this series. I love this author. This is a wonderful first book in a new series. I love the suspense and the romance. There were many twists and turns. Izzy and Ryan come together during a very tough time. I love to read police books. They have to keep each other safe during a tough time. I did not put this book down easily. This had everything that I love in a suspense and romance. I received this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I started the New Year with a bang when I picked up Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason. This romantic suspense novel, the first installment in the Blue Justice series, promises more great reading for Eason’s fans. Fast-paced with an extensive supporting cast that will no doubt headline future novels, this one is a page-turner. Recommended.Isabelle (Izzy) St. John is part of a huge family who put their money where there mouths are when it comes to fighting crime. Izzy is a police officer and takes her position very seriously. When the unthinkable occurs during a stake-out, Izzy vows to bring to justice those who killed her partner. Izzy, along with detective Ryan Marshall, follows the leads in a race against time to uncover just what really is going on.Fans of Blue Bloods will love Oath of Honor. The St. John family includes an FBI agent, the Chief of Police, police officers and detectives, a K-9 officer, an attorney, and a surgeon. This novel focuses on Izzy and her twin brother Derek, an undercover policeman and SWAT team member. As stated above, the pace is fast — the action takes place in just a few days, and the stakes are high — an election is jeopardized and people are dying. The facts of the case unfold for the reader as the characters discover them. There are a lot of twists and turns and dangerous situations, and I was never sure just what was going on. I certainly was surprised by the ending! Despite the short timeframe of the book, the romance progressed in a reasonable and believable manner. Izzy and Ryan were friends from childhood and their families were close neighbors — this allowed for a natural growth in their relationship. While I liked Oath of Honor overall, it was a bit daunting keeping up with the many characters. I finally just focused on the main characters. However, I do look forward to more books involving Izzy’s brothers and sisters. I anticipate more edge-of-the-seat stories from the St. John clan. All in all, I liked Oath of Honor. If you are a fan of action packed romantic suspense, this one is for you.Recommended.Audience: adults.(Thanks to Revell for a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are mine alone.)

If you like warm fuzzy romance stories this book is sure not for you, with nonstop action from the beginning to the end, and don’t get too comfortable in your shoes, you won’t see who wants to wear them. The author starts this book with the murder of fellow officer Isabella St. John’s partner, and lifelong family friend, Kevin. From there the violence goes downhill, and why, we soon find out, or maybe it takes to the very end to learn, and most you won’t see coming. So, it is the rival gangs, an old “boyfriend”, a friend, the list goes on and on, maybe your brother, or mother. There has to be a reason, and when we find out, just wow!Once you start this one, you will have to get to the end to learn the answers, and I for one love the epilogue, better allow additional time!I received this book through the Revell Blogger Program, and was not required to give a positive review.

Oath of Honor is the first of Eason’s new “Blue Justice” series, which focuses on the St. John family, a large clan all involved in law enforcement. The main character in this story is Isabelle “Izzy” St. John, a police officer whose long-time friend and recently assigned partner, Kevin, is shot and killed in the opening moments of the story. Izzy is joined in the hunt for the killers by Kevin’s brother Ryan, also a cop, and there is a long standing attraction between them, that might turn into more in light of the intense emotions and drama that ensues. The central conflict Izzy faces, besides the obvious search for justice, is that there are indications that corruption in the police force may be part of the motivation for the killing. Some signs point to members of Izzy’s own family, such as her twin brother (an undercover cop) and her mother (the chief of police). Her loyalty to justice, and to Ryan and Kevin wars with her family loyalty. The pacing was excellent, and although the solution was not totally unexpected, there were plenty of thrills along the way. The romantic elements were very low key, perhaps too low key to be completely satisfying. But this did make sense in the context of the story, which takes place in a very short time frame and involves far too much danger and action to reasonably be able to take time for sighs and longing glances.Since this is the beginning of a projected series about the St. John family, there are many characters introduced who presumably will be featured in future books or be continuing supporting characters. It can be a bit confusing keeping them all straight this early in the game, but the distraction was minimal. Overall, a gripping thriller and I would be interested in future entries. 4 stars.I was given an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think I am really going to enjoy Lynette Eason's new Blue Justice series. Wow! I knew this book would be a good one when I requested it and and was not wrong. I think I will even enjoy it more than the last series since this series is focused just on one family, the St. Johns. The first one is Izze, one of six siblings most of who are in some kind of police service. Her mother is the chief of police and her father is a lawyer. I'm not giving anything away. This is on the back of the book. Anyway her partner, Kevin Marshall is killed at a warehouse. Izze teams up with Kevin's brother Ryan to find who the killer is. Izze has been friends with Kevin's family since they are kids. This book kept me engaged. Very thrilling with lots of twists. Just when you think everyone is safe you find out differently! I can't wait until the next book. Thanks to LibraryThing and the Revell company for providing me a copy of this book to read and review. If you are a lover of suspense you don't want to miss this book. Oath of Honor will be released on January 2, 2018 with the sequel coming out in the summer 2018.

This is the first book I've read by Lynette Eason, and for fans of hers as well as those who like criminal justice thrillers I would give this a 4 1/2 star rating. The plot twists are interesting and build to a rather thrilling climax, and for the most part the book kept me interested. The structure reminds me of Michael Crichton books where all the action occurs within the space of a few days or even a few hours. Protaganists Izzy St. John and her murdered partner's brother Ryan Marshall are well-developed characters whose story line is easy to follow. Both have rather large families, and I found that the occasional interaction with various members had me confused and wondering who was who. I think the book might have benefited from a list of characters at the beginning. At least that would have made it easier for me to go back and check who was being talked about as I read through the story. This is the first of a new series that will focus on various members of the St. John family, most of whom are in law enforcement, and all of whom are in "helping" professions. I haven't yet decided whether I will follow along and read the other books. Again, my review reflects the fact that I don't always get into these kinds of stories, and I do believe that fans of this genre will love this book.

Izzy comes from a large family, who are almost all in law enforcement including her mother, the chief of policy. While investigating a lead with her childhood best friend, Kevin, things go terribly wrong and Kevin is killed in the line of duty. Teaming up with Kevin's older brother Ryan, Izzy and Ryan are working to bring Kevin's murderer to justice. The path to solve the mystery is much deeper than either Izzy or Ryan expects. I enjoyed the characters and the story line in this book and would definitely pick up the next book in the series.

This book is one action packed story that will have readers on the edge of their seats. Izzy is a great police officer and is very smart. Her intuitions are always spot on and her keen sense of caution helps her in her job. I loved her partner Kevin. He is a rookie cop and is out to save the world. I liked how they seemed to work so well together. One evening on a tip Kevin and Izzy go to investigate a warehouse. From the moment Kevin steps in the building, the story moves at a quick pace with intense moments. I can’t imagine how nerve racking it would be to investigate a building not knowing what you will find. It’s like going in blindly and hoping for the best. That night turns out to set in motion a riveting story. There were times I wasn’t sure who the good guys were. The author writes a suspenseful story and leaves the readers guessing at every turn.Ryan is Kevin’s brother and a cop as well. I liked the chemistry between him and Izzy. Ryan is dealing with the loss of his brother Chris. Will his brother Kevin be able to stay out of danger? The author does a great job of keeping the action going with twists and turns. I loved reading about how elections are run and learning the ins and out of a police station. With the realism of the story, I could easily picture every movement characters were making. I love when an author can take a story and have it come to life with such vivid descriptions. The story is a sure winner with appearances from gang members, organized crime and corruption in the police department. I’m looking forward to the next installment of this series. I received an advanced copy of this book from Librarything Early Reviewer’s Program. The review is my own opinion.

I received this as a LibraryThing early review copy. Izzy's partner was shot and killed and her brother was in the building when it happened. Ryan Marshall, her partner's brother, is helping her investigate while at the same time trying to deal with the emotional fallout of losing his brother. There are criminal conspiracies and near death experiences galore. Minimal emotional impact of any sort considering the subject matter. Hopefully, they will fix the few editing snafus.
