About this audiobook

Destined for Doom-or Desire? Growing up on the Isle of Moon, Brigitta knew that she was born with the magical powers of the Embraced-even if she did not know how to wield them. But she has finally learned the truth: Brigitta is the lost princess of the kingdom of Tourin. She was sent into hiding as an infant to escape the wrath of her half-brother, the king. And now he knows just where to find her. Rupert is a notorious pirate and sorcerer who can harness the wind with his hands. He's spent most of his life plotting revenge on the evil king-and Rupert believes that Brigitta could be the key to finally destroying his enemy. But what begins as a kidnapping of the innocent beauty escalates into something deeper, and more passionate, than either captor or captive could have imagined. Rupert soon vows to protect Brigitta against the king-but will they survive long enough to find their happily-ever-after...Or does fate have something else in store?

This book is just fun--there's no other way to put it. If you enjoy paranormal romance with a dash of humor, it's just a fun read.Sparks' characters are fantastic, and this combines the wonder of the first book in the series with swashbuckling pirates, a cruel king right out of an adult fairy tale, and all of the magic and action and romance you could ask for in a paranormal romance. I do think that the magic system and characters might be unclear for anyone who didn't read the first book, so I'd absolutely recommend starting there even though I think this one is a different flavor and more entertaining in a lot of ways, but these books are just sort of lovely escapes, and I can't wait for the next one.Absolutely recommended.

Kerrelyn Sparks is one of those authors that when you pick up one of her books, you know ahead of time that you are going to enjoy your romantic journey. This is another you can add to the collection. I received a free Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher to read before hand and I squealed like a little girl because the whole idea of this book was so neat to me.

The humor was fantastic and had me belting out laughs at the responses from the one nun, she is a nutter. The heroine is strong, but a little young and naïve as she should be for her age. Um,  PIRATE SORCERER, hello ... how cool does that sound? The characters are strong and it is all taking place in a world that you can feel is progressively developing throughout the book. Connections are being made in different countries that have been at war, and there is like a super villain about.

This is actually the second book in this series, The Embraced, which is all about the special individuals who are born on the twin moon eclipse and have special powers. You can read this book without reading the first in the series and be able to follow along with the main chain of events. I didn't read the first book, but I am going to once I catch up on my list of to-read books. I love the idea of the fortune telling stones, and how they can link to the rest of the series. Like the next book, you are totally sucked into wanting to read that after this one.

This fantasy world has elves, dragons, pirates and evil murdering kings. Sounds accurately like a fantasy world. I did wish that there was more world building, but again I did read an ARC version so maybe that had changed. I wanted to feel more immersed into the world, but I was fully invested into the characters so in my opinion that balances out. That's my only negative feedback, I enjoyed everything else about this book.

I loved this book! I enjoyed the first book in the series, How to Tame a Beast in Seven Days, so I was really excited to start reading this book. This book was just as good as I had hoped it would be. Once I started reading it, I didn't want to put it down and ended up reading almost the entire novel in a single day. I didn't want it to end because I was having such a good time getting lost in this magical world. This really was a joy to read.Brigitta and her sisters from the Isle of Moon are on their way to be with Luciana. During their travels, their boat becomes a target and Brigitta learns that she is actually a princess. She ends up on Rupert's pirate ship along with a nun to act as her protector. Rupert is a pirate and is known as a sorcerer. He has the power to control the wind which turns out to be rather handy while at sea. I really liked Brigitta and Rupert together. They just clicked right from the start. They had a lot of things in common and just seemed to connect with each other and had a lot of chemistry. Their relationship did move pretty fast but it worked with in the context of the story. I loved that Brigitta and Rupert had equally exciting backgrounds and I wanted to keep learning more about each of them. This book was incredibly exciting to read. There were a lot of scenes that were just filled with action. I loved how Brigitta and Rupert's special abilities were described in this story. I wouldn't have imagined how exciting the power to control the wind could really turn out to be. This book really does a little bit of everything with some really funny moments worked into the story and a pretty entertaining secondary romance.I would highly recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance. While I do think it is possible to read this book as a stand alone novel, I think this series is best enjoyed in order. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this delightfully entertaining series.I received an advance reader edition of this book from St. Martin's Press.

So I Married A Sorcerer by Kerrelyn SparksThe Embraced #2Five sisters of the heart raised on an island in a convent will have their stories told through this series. The world building of Aetherlan is superb with five kingdoms in need of…something. The prologue tells enough to set the stage and then…a story begins. In the first book Luciana finds her future in Eberon with Leo and as book two begins the four other sisters of the heart are on their way by sea to be there when Luciana has her first child. Brigitta is taken captive by a pirate and believes her future, as foretold by the fortune telling stones, is just beginning – BUT – who is the tall handsome stranger that was predicted? With dragons, shapeshifters, “embraced” with unexpected talents, an evil stepbrother, murder to be avenged, a contest for the hand of fair maiden and a whole lot more this is an action-packed fast-paced book with adventure, romance and a happily ever after ending that makes me want to find out what will happen in the rest of the books of the series. It will be difficult to wait for book three that is not expected to be released till sometime in 2018. I liked this book but for some reason the first book seemed a bit more mature while this one a bit lighter hearted or perhaps not as deep and for that reason I bumped it down a bit in stars in comparison. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4 Stars

So I Married a Sorcerer by Kerrelyn SparksIt's one of those "overly dramatic stories" (a direct quote about the heroine's written stories) that makes this an outstanding adventure. I absolutely loved this fantasy, pirate, lost-kingdom romance. This is the 2nd in The Embraced series and it's best read after the 1st.In this book, Rupert the pirate, is actually a prince determined to win back his throne by honorable means. Kind of. He is an honorable man. He wants the best for the lands and it's people. And he will use his Embraced magic to help him even while it prevents his enemies from being hurt. The heroine was brought up in a convent where her Embraced powers didn't make her a target for death. When she leaves the convent to visit her adopted sister, she is kidnapped by pirate Rupert where yes, they fall in love.Brigitta and Rupert are overly dramatic and wonderfully entertaining. Fallon and Stefan's instant attraction made me laugh out loud a couple of times.I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I have also purchased a copy to gift.
