Naturwissenschaft und Philosophie. So war die Physik bis Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts experimentelle Philosophie. Heute sind Naturwissenschaften und Technik die prägenden Momente. Sie entwickelten sich, gelöst von den metaphysischen Fragestellungen der Philosophie zum grandiosen Triumph menschlicher Vernunft. Trotz des großen Erfolges bleiben aber Fragen, die weder durch Physik noch durch irgendeine andere Wissenschaft beantwortet werden können. Den Grenzfragen, den Fragen nach dem Hintergrund hinter den messbaren Dingen, geht die Naturphilosophie nach. Sie tut es in der Tradition der Urväter der Philosophie, den Vorsokratikern. DIE NATURGESETZE Die moderne Suche nach Naturgesetzen war und ist die Fortsetzung der griechischen Naturphilosophie mit anderen Mitteln. Physik war einmal experimentelle Philosophie, deshalb sucht sie auch heute noch nach den ewigen Seinsgründen. Je einfacher und klarer die in mathematische Form gegossenen Gesetze sind, umso einfacher sind sie zu überprüfen. Für Naturgesetze gibt es keinen Gerichtshof. Sie sind immer gültig und immer wirksam. Mit ihnen wird es möglich, den gesamten Kosmos zu untersuchen und zu erklären. Der Außerirdische wäre dann auch nur ein Mensch.
