About this audiobook

Acclaimed author Michael Grant delivers a stunning follow-up to the globally bestselling Gone series—perfect for fans of Stephen King’s suspenseful writing.

It’s been four years since a meteor hit Perdido Beach and everyone disappeared. Everyone, except the kids trapped in the FAYZ—an invisible dome that was created by an alien virus. Inside the FAYZ, animals began to mutate and teens developed dangerous powers. The terrifying new world was plagued with hunger, lies, and fear of the unknown.

Now the dome is gone and meteors are hitting earth with an even deadlier virus. Humans will mutate into monsters and the whole world will be exposed. As some teens begin to morph into heroes, they will find that others have become dangerously out of control . . . and that the world is on the brink of a monstrous battle between good and evil.

“Ratchets up the gore and action, and features a diverse cast of characters. An evocative, intricately plotted companion series.” —ALA Booklist

Michael Grant

Michael Grant, author of the Gone series, the Messenger of Fear series, the Magnificent Twelve series, and the Front Lines trilogy, has spent much of his life on the move. Raised in a military family, he attended ten schools in five states, as well as three schools in France. Even as an adult he kept moving, and in fact he became a writer in part because it was one of the few jobs that wouldn’t tie him down. His fondest dream is to spend a year circumnavigating the globe and visiting every continent. Yes, even Antarctica. He lives in California with his wife, Katherine Applegate, with whom he cowrote the wildly popular Animorphs series. You can visit him online at www.themichaelgrant.com and follow him on Twitter @MichaelGrantBks.

It had a few moments (mostly concerning the appearances of familiar and beloved characters) but overall a disappointing mess of a book that really does a disservice to the ones that came before it. This didn't need to be written and I won't be reading the next one. I will, in fact, be trying to forget I even read this one.

Another classic Michael Grant book. Very different from the Gone books but in a new way. Glad to have started this new trilogy.Action packed, good characters. There are some pieces that made me laugh out loud in a not great way, but other than that it was very enjoyable.

I felt like I needed a spreadsheet to keep track of everyone's powers and what side they were on. As excited as I am to return to the Gone series, I felt this one was too complicated.

I agree with other reviewers. The change of narrator was a huge mistake! This continuation of the gone books is a whole different kind of story. I wasn't crazy about it. It's a bit over the top. And, I can also do without having gender ideology shoved in my face, especially in a book meant for youth/teen. I listen to audiobooks to relax. Not to be reminded of disturbing, ongoing, real world issues.

I’m not a fan of the girl reading it. I got 5 minutes in and didn’t want to continue but I’m going to finish it because I loved the first 6 books.

Why must there be gay or transgenders included in every modern novel...and the reading was not good. Convoluted.

It’s like someone else wrote this book. It bounces all over the place and really doesn’t help the series. Plus, to go from Kyle McCarley as a reader to the speed reader lady is another HUGE disappointment. I gave it one star because if you’re a transgender person and want to be placated, then feel free to force you’re way through this abomination. The series ended last book and should have stayed that way.
