About this audiobook

Three hunters find a crashed cocaine plane in the Montana wilderness. Each has a reason to steal the cocaine – who will?

The two who do steal it soon find themselves hunted by the Mexican cocaine cartel, the DEA, Las Vegas killers, their guide, and the police of several states.

Zack, a former NFL star now a TV sports icon, owes two million to some nasty people in Vegas. Steve, a Wall Street broker, may have lost all of his and Zack’s investments. Curt, their guide, a half-Cheyenne mountain man, is trying to save his ranch from an energy company takeover.

Diego is an executioner for the cocaine cartel. María Christina, a Harvard grad and Yale MBA, runs the cartel. Whitney Castro is a black girl from the Denver slums, now a brilliant DEA agent. Kenny Stauffenberg is an easy-going Montana sheriff who never gives up a hunt.

From the frozen peaks of Montana to the heights of Wall Street, the slums of Denver and the million-dollar tables at Vegas, SNOW is an electric portrait of today’s American culture, the invisible line between good and evil, and what people will do in their frantic search for love and freedom.

It's an okay book. Interesting writing, but the stupid decisions by the main characters (who seem like they should be much more intelligent) really let the book down. Left me feeling disappointed.

I was expecting something much more exciting than what I got. The opening definitely grabbed my attention, but the author tried to follow too many storylines for the story to stay cohesive. The pace was slow and the changing between storylines was unexpected in a bad way. It was more confusing than anything. 2.5 stars

I received a free advance e-copy of this book and have chosen to write an honest and unbiased review. I have no personal affiliation with the author. Wow! Another extremely well written crime thriller with an amazing plot and excellent character development by one of my favorite authors, Mike Bond. The action and suspense never quits. Full of twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down. They all have financial problems. What will they do when they find a crashed plane full of cocaine worth millions? What a temptation! Who does it belong to and why hasn’t someone come back for it? Will they do the right thing or will they let greed control their decisions? The ending was a surprise and will make you think. Mike Bond is a great thriller writer and ‘Snow’ is well worth the read. I look forward to reading more from Mike Bond in the future.

Steve and Zack are on a hunting trip in the wilds of Montana with their guide, Curt, when Zack discovers a crashed plane with cocaine in it. Steve persuades him not to tell anyone and that they can sell the cocaine themselves to make a profit. They both need the money. Steve’s investment firm is going down the pan and ex-footballer Zack has gambling debts. So when Curt goes into town to report the plane crash they stay behind and begin to execute their plan. One of the things I liked was that Steve and Zack were pretty inept in their dealings – they were about as good at being cocaine traffickers as I would be. This felt real and plausible but it left me wondering why it took the police struggled as they did to get to them. (There is a sort-of justification – the police want to catch the big-scale traffickers who chartered the plane – but that would be a major federal operation, not one police officer and a mobile phone.)The quality of the characterisation varies throughout the book. It starts well – on the one hand you have Zack, who generally has good intentions but is weak and self-pitying. On the other you have Steve, who is manipulative and whose privileged upbringing leads him to overestimate his own abilities. Later on though, their voices seem to merge so at times it’s hard to tell which is which. It would have been better if the author had made more of the shifting dynamics of the Steve/Zack friendship – what brings them together and what forces them apart, but this got lost in a lot of repetition of their backstories, driving around to no clear purpose and mutual recrimination. The implicit theme of the story could be said to show that even if you’re in a position of relative privilege, like an investment manager or NFL player or gangster, you are still a cog in an unjust system. If it had stayed implicit it might have been effective. However, all the characters articulate an eerily similar critique of predatory capitalism and the war on drugs. Clearly, these are the views of the author rather than the characters and in hitting the reader over the head with them he tends to irritate rather than inspire.I liked the premise of this novel. There is some lovely writing in here, particularly the opening chapters in the Montana wilderness, and, by contrast, the author’s jaundiced perspective on the Vegas casinos. I just wish he’d given the characters room to think for themselves.*I received a copy of Snow from the publisher via Netgalley. This review first appeared on my blog katevane.com/blog

Thinking back on this book definitely brings a smile to my face. This was definitely a drama, however, the characters sometimes seemed like they came right out of a Keystone Cops silent movie. I seriously had to shake my head at times for their stupidity and greediness. They could be so dumb. However, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. There were a few spots when I think there was a little filler inserted, but overall, a good read for me.Lots of action & many twists, I sped right through this one. Thanks to Mandevilla Press and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I requested this book from Net Galley and it was sent to me for a fair review. If you read the cover of the book, you can find what the story is about. I like to read a review that tells me how the person reading it felt about it, and I try to let people know that in my reviews. This book had me reading with purpose from the beginning. Two friends in the wilderness with their Guide, on a trip they take once a year. I put myself right in the setting of snow, snowshoes, and coyotes. I realized as the book went on that what can seem to be a simple premise is sometimes far from it. A web of deceit was evident between characters where it was not necessarily anticipated, and the surprises kept on coming until the end. Engrossing characters, whether you liked them or not, ongoing suspense, just a good read. I have read other books by this author as well, and have added him as one of my favorites! I would recommend this to a friend and am recommending it to you!

Snow is my first book by Mike Bond but definitely not my last. It's a fast paced thriller with well written character that will keep you reading until the end. Zack, a former NFL star and Steve, a long time friend and Wall Street broker, are on their yearly hunting trip in the high county of Montana with their guide Curt when they find a downed plane that has two caskets in it that are both filled with cocaine. Zack and Steve, both hiding financial issues from each other, decide to take the cocaine to NY and Las Vegas to sell it and end their financial woes. Turns out that the cocaine belongs to a Mexican cartel who wants it back at any cost. Diego is working for the cartel and stops at nothing to get what he wants. The book is set up around these 4 main characters, with lots of other strong secondary characters, and the reader learns not only about their crime but the reasons behind their crimes as well as learning about why Diego acts as he does. So even though all of them but Curt are criminals they come across as people who are caught up in the mistakes that they've made in the past, willing to do whatever they can to get their good lives back and not really sure of how they got where they are. The line between good and evil is definitely a blurred line in this novel.I thought that this was an excellent book and plan to go back and read some of this author's earlier books. Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Wow. This is my first reaction after reading this book. I have seen this author's books around but yet, this is my first time actually reading one. Now, that I have, I plan to go back and check out Mr. Bond's prior novels. From the beginning, the middle and the end; there was plenty of action to keep the story moving. All of the characters had a role and where in the story for a purpose. No one was just in the story as a filler. Even though they were outlaws, I actually felt bad for Zack and Steve. They really were good guys that found themselves in a situation that they could not pass up. Speaking of bad guys, Diego is like one of the guys you would see in a Western movie. The type that you won't want tracking you. Snow is a top notch thriller!
