      This is Holly and Venom's story. Holly, who used to be called Sorrow, was attacked by Uram and forcibly made into a sort of vampire. She also has some angelic abilities and still has a human need for food. Since she wasn't made under contract, she has been taken into the tower where she is being watched and trained by the Seven and Raphael. No one, least of all Holly, are sure that she won't succumb to Uram's insanity. When it is learned that someone has put a bounty of Holly, she is teamed up with Venom to find out who wants her. She and Venom have an interesting relationship. While everyone except his brothers in the Seven are afraid of Venom, Holly isn't intimidated. She finds him fascinating and enjoys teasing him. He returns the teasing. It is while they are investigating that their relationship changes into a romance which neither of them had anticipated.While they are investigating, Holly also has to deal with the piece of Uram that he left in her and who is trying to take her over. Following where that piece is directing her takes them to Michaela's territory and Michaela's secret. They face all sorts of dangers as they infiltrate and even more dangers when the secret is discovered.I liked seeing more about Venom and finding out more about his past and his reasons for being the way he is. I liked that Holly was a perfect match for him because she had her own power and stubbornness. I also liked that Holly saw the man behind the Venom persona.Fans of the Guild Hunters series will enjoy this newest entry. In fact, anyone who loves paranormal romance will enjoy this story.

      The books in this series build on one another but there is quite a bit of info repeated for a new reader of the series not to be lost on the what and why of the story. Events that happened in the first book shaped Holly one of the two main characters this book focus on. The other one is Viper, a vampire that his creation made him different than other vampires. Because of how Holly was turned, Viper has been working with her training even if most of it has been long distance. The two of them are oil and water in the beginning but he does help her with developing her power set and finding out who has put a bounty out on her capture.

      Overall a good story and ties into the first book which makes for a good overall story arc in the long run. One of the things I like the most about this writer. She creates interesting settings and has good use of a large cast of characters that are featured in different books. Can’t wait for the next one.

      I love how this author writes and am always drawn into her worlds.But, this one -- while a very good book -- disappointed me. It was too sweet, too "easygoing," too forced in the banter because it went on for so long at start of book. But what really disappointed was how softened the characters of Sorrow/Holly and Venom were.Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed their story and am glad I read it. It just didn't seem like I was reading about Sorrow and Venom but instead entirely new characters. I'm happy for their happy-ish "ending" but expected more action and tension from these two. Possibly it's just that I was really over-anticipating Venom's story and didn't appreciate some wishy-washy parts. Based on past books, I like these characters as a couple; based on this book, I just don't get the romance element which made for something really missing.All that said, I'm still looking forward to rest of the series.

      I loved this, I really did, I just couldn't connect with Holly as a heroine personally. I liked her a lot but couldn't really identify with her, which doesn't mean she wasn't well written, just that she was too optimistic for me to relate to. I adore this series and loved getting Viper's story. I really like the enemies-to-lovers trope. Also, I am really enjoying Michaela's growth as a character! Multidimensional villains are the best, and ones that may end up on a path to redemption? My favorite! (3.5 stars)

      Once a victim of the horrific crimes committed by a deranged Archangel, Holly Chang has remade herself into a valuable member of Raphael's Tower. Now the malevolent remnants of Uram's attack are awakening, and Holly together with Venom, the centuries old vampire who drives her to distraction, will have to muster all of their strength, courage and determination in order to survive.

      Holly and Venom's story definitely lives up to expectations. Both are very compelling characters and their banter is highly entertaining. It is fun reading as Venom comes to the realization that Holly is no longer the traumatized girl he knew before and has become a force to be reckoned with. Not only is their chemistry intense but they respect one another for both their strengths and their vulnerabilities.

      The world building in this series is exceptional and the fact that Singh does not balk from depicting the seamier sides of the angels and vampires makes it all the more realistic and believable.

      Nevertheless, there are one or two issues that prevent this from being a five star read. To begin with, although some of the background information on Venom's making is provided, other details are disappointingly absent such as How Venom met Raphael and came to join the ranks of the Seven. There is still much to learn about his character.

      Second, the two major plot lines are poorly constructed. The initial focus on the bounty on Holly is ultimately overshadowed by the secondary thread revolving around Uram's legacy. While the resolution of the latter is exciting and satisfying, the ending of the former feels like an afterthought.

      Despite these problems, Archangel's Viper is an enjoyable addition to the series and I am eager to see where Singh will take this incredible world and engaging characters in the future.

So while ARCHANGEL'S VIPER focuses on the relationship of Viper and Holly, their romance takes place in the context of the sweeping power shifts of the Cascade.And while I'm heavily invested in Elena and Raphael's world, when beginning ARCHANGEL'S VIPER I would have said Venom is my least favorite of the Seven. Holly Chang, however, has been a haunting character from her first introduction in ANGELS' BLOOD. Cast these characters in a rough and tumble frenemies to lovers story, and I was soon on bard. Venom has always been one of Elena's chief antagonists, and it is just those same sharp edges and inhuman impulses that ultimately allow Holly to feel safe and loved.Reading ARCHANGEL'S VIPER makes it clear that regardless of who this series focuses on, there is always a well written story guaranteed to carry readers away. While installments that focus on Raphael and Elena are still my favorite (and impatiently await Illium's story), catching up with Holly was a welcome treat.Sexual Content: Sex scenes, implied rape.
