About this audiobook
Abandoned by his mother when he was young, twenty-two-year-old Rave Wayne knows all about loss. That doesn't mean he's used to it. After he's dumped by the girlfriend he assumed he'd spend his life with, Rave is longing more than ever to connect.
Then, as if by miracle, he receives an invitation from his grandfather, a man he thought was long gone, to come for a visit in rural Tennessee. Loyal, honest, and loving, dear old Tuck is everything Rave could have hoped for. He's family. Soon, Rave finds himself falling for a down-to-earth local girl, and he thinks his life is finally coming together.
But the past isn't through with Rave. When his mother returns after many long years, looking to reconcile the terrible mistakes that once defined her, Rave struggles to put together the unsettled pieces of his heart. Will this once-estranged family be able to come together to understand the meaning of unconditional love, the fragile bonds of family, and the healing power of letting go?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5When Rave found out dannial was his son. And when he accepted him not knowing he was his son. And when Sharon stepped up to be a donor.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this clean romance and learning about family. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 5* rating. This story winds it way through the hero's life. There are a lot of ups and downs and growing up. This really touched the heart strings, so I laughed and cried a little. It also makes you think a lot.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is a must read. You will deal with many emotions. I loved the cast of characters, story line, and writing. This book talks of the different type of family...those we are born into, those we choose, those we don't want, those that disappoint, those we love. I loved that this book spoke volumes about forgiveness without being preachy! I was give this book as an ARC, for an honest review. This review is my mine alone!

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Burch's family drama will appeal to readers who enjoy emotional roller coasters and are less concerned with plot believability. Rave Wayne is initially portrayed as "trouble" but it becomes clear very quickly that he's a good guy. In fact, he's an exceptionally good guy. There is never any doubt that Rave will do the right thing when faced with adversity which happens again and again and again. Burch drops a new bombshell or complication in nearly every chapter but the solutions come just as easily. The writing style is smooth but the characters never develop beyond what you expect from the beginning. For fans of feel-good stories with momentary drama.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Is family enough to learn to forgive?Heather Burch has written an amazing book that deals with a lot of today's battles. A war veteran who cannot forgive himself for coming home, a drug addict who kept making the wrong decisions, a young man who must find his way and a small town attitude that will warm your heart. Meet Tuck the war veteran who is searching for his family, a daughter Sharon, who is a drug addict that has abandoned her son and the son Rave, who feels all alone in life.Tuck has tracked down his grandson and invites him to come and live with him. Rave must get to know the grandfather that he was told was dead, and finds out there is a new battle to be fought when he begins to open his heart to Tuck. Follow the story of Tuck, Rave and Sharon as they begin to build a new foundation in their family. This is a wonderful story about family and what it truly means. I highly recommend this book.Thank you #heatherburch. #lakeunionpublishing
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love the many layers and storytelling of "Something Like Family" by Heather Burch, Lake Union Publishing, 2017. I appreciate that the author deals with relevant issues of Veterans of War and Drug addiction and the effects on family members. The Genres of this story are Women's Fiction and Fiction. The story takes place mostly in the present, in a small town where everyone knows you and helps each other out. Neighbors look out for one another. The characters can be described as complex and complicated. Rave Wayne is a young man who has been abandoned by his drug addicted mother for years, and has no idea if she is alive or dead. Although Rave is bitter and angry he befriends a young woman who is pregnant ,who has a son. Rave helps and comes to love the little boy. Rave and this woman enter into a relationship, until she ends it. Rave again feels abandoned. The author describes dysfunctional families. At the same time his Grandfather Tuck has been looking to reunite. Rave didn't know that he had a Grandfather that is alive and heads to the small town. Rave is one of my favorite characters. He shows compassion, helpfulness, courage, and growth. The author writes about abandonment, betrayal, loyalty, memories, forgiveness, courage, love and hope. I appreciate that the author also writes about friends, neighbors, and family. What is a family? I enjoyed this story and would highly recommend it. There are some Kleenex moments. I received an ARC of this novel for my honest review.
