- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Herbie Fisher is engaged, but she is not who she claims to be. Herbie is asked to take over a criminal trial, by a lawyer on the run. Herbie soon finds himself in a complicated mess, with gangsters, mob bosses, and loan sharks after him. A councilman's son is on trial. The councilman's daughter, a doctor, believes her brother is innocent. Herbie is in the middle of it all.
Quick read, not a lot of substance, lots of confusion. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed the book and the character Herbie Fisher. You have a crooked cop, mobsters, a loan shark, and a senator all in the same plot. Throw in a climatic surprise ending and the result is a very good read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Herbie Fisher, Stone Barrington’s protégé, is the partner in a prestigious law firm. A skillful lawyer, he’s in high demand but he also has a knack for attracting trouble. His latest case involves drugs, the mob, a loan shark, and a senator . . . and he’ll need all his professional shrewdness and finesse to keep ahead of the bad guys. This well-written quick read, peopled with well-drawn characters, offers readers a plot filled with twists, turns, and unexpected reveals. Herbie’s humorous antics and the quick pace of the narrative combine to draw the reader into the story, build suspense, and keep the pages turning. Don’t miss this one.Highly recommended.
