About this audiobook

He wasn’t always this rich. This hot. This difficult.

Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.

That man is gone.

In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.

He’s a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.

The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.

It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.

I didn’t expect him to offer it easily.

And he doesn’t.

Instead, he vets me harder than he’s vetted anyone.

Don’t invest in what you don’t know, he says.

He’s assessing every piece of me, to the point I’ve never felt so bare.

I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.

Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.

Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.

DNF, couldn't take it anymore by Chapter 10. The lady narrator is annoying with her dropped "g"s like feelin, meetin, evenin. Arrghh. Also this book features a lame 30yo heroine who has no self respect. In the middle of her pitch for fundin (no g. Argh!) for a project, she just starts talkin about her feelins (arrgh) for the guy, fishin (argghh) for reciprocation about their attraction in high school. WTF. So old already yet still so stoopid. Annoyin annoyin.

The story focusses on a venture capitalist that invests in an 'online store', but the whole planning process that they went through made me gag. Not only was it so make believe, somehow the female started a business with very little effort. She was weak, had no busines acumen. Blah was the romance and the sex was just something that was a standard insert in the book. Very disappointing , I usually enjoy Katy Evans books.

I knew this author would be good and that I just didn’t like the plot lines of the first book I tried. This book did the redemption I knew it would! I normally never go for second chance romances, but this one was done well so I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Bryn is looking for financial help to start her own business. Her last resort is to meet with Aaric who has been known to take on risky startups and make them work. The plot develops when we find out these two have a pretty intense past. Now old feelings have resurfaced, but it’s been so long do they even know each other anymore?

Aaric is trying to help push Bryn to be all she can be, just like he pushed himself to get to where he is today. The more time they spend with each other, the more feelings are developing and memories are coming back. Aaric’s point of view is past memories that show us how they came to know each other. Bryn is coming into her own, while realizing it may be too late and she missed out on something wonderful with Aaric.

Of course things are never as they seem! Can these two work through all the issues that arise between them? Things aren’t strictly professional at the end, and even though some plot twists make the characters do stupid things, overall it’s a very enjoyable book. I love the emotion and journey!

Very cliche....Several cringe moments. Predictable and boring. The sex scenes weren't all that either. I did not like the characters.

Loved the male narrator, as always. But the female is annoying AF and has ruined a potentially good book for me. Her voice and.. let's say.. *specific* way of speaking is for teenage characters (15-17yo). I just can't make it to the end, I'm sorry.

Not as good as the Manwhore series. I felt in a loop at some times and there was not enough action.

Three hours left and I am on a verge of giving up; the story is boring and I feel nothing for these characters…

DNF, couldn’t handle the whiny female narrator or ridiculous plot. The author clearly doesn’t know a single thing about business which makes the premise and all the dialogue painful. I’m surprised that Sebastian York wasted his time on this book. This was my first book by this author, I would have to be pretty desperate to try another one.

This book was average at best. The ending was so frustrating as you needed to know more but they just ended it with the classic cliche. Fine for a afternoon read, but I wouldn’t recommend

I couldn’t even finish the audiobook bc the female narrator, Elizabeth Louise, has the WORST VOICE and she doesn’t even sound sexy when she is supposed to. She sounds like a monotones robot. I love Sebastian York’s voice and tried to listen but her voice was killing me! I guess I’ll have to read it.

3.5 "Invest in Me" Stars for the story and 4.5 stars for the narration!Tycoon is the perfect summer beach read. It's a light and fairly predictable, second chance romance but you will find yourself rooting for the hero and the heroine anyway. One unique aspect I enjoyed of this story was the entrepreneur/venture capital investment angle of the story. Additionally, the expert dual narration by Elizabeth Louise and Sebastian York make this a great title to experience in audiobook format. In high school, Aaric Christos had a crush on Brynn Kelly. However, Brynn didn't want to ruin their friendship and therefore never encouraged anything beyond friendship to develop between them. Today Aaric is a successful self-made entrepreneur who invests in start-up businesses and Brynn's family fortune has evaporated when their clothing store chain went bankrupt. Brynn, however, has an idea for a virtual personal shopper assistant clothing based business, but no funds to get her idea started. So, she decides to pitch her idea to Aaric, who she hasn't seen in years, to see if he will invest seed money in her venture to get it started.Aaric is now at the stage in his life where he's ready to get married and start a family and is dating a socialite who fits this picture perfectly. However, when Brynn walks into his office and pitches her idea he begins to feel old feelings stir. Will Aaric invest in Brynn's business? Moreover, even if he does, what does this mean for their personal relationship? Will Brynn be interested in exploring what she once never even started? Is it even possible if they become business partners? Moreover, what about Aaric's existing relationship? Most of this audiobook is told from Brynn's perspective--thus 3/4 or more of the book is narrated by Elizabeth Louise with Sebastian York popping up intermittently to give us Aaric's perspective. This style works generally well to highlight the different point of views being shared.I'm a long time fan of Elizabeth Louise's narrations so I enjoyed her rendition. She has the perfect youthful voice to bring Brynn to life. Moreover, she appropriately deepens her delivery sufficiently to render a convincing Aaric in the dialogues that occur in chapters told from Brynn's perspective.Sebastian York is always a hit for me too. His sexy, baritone voice is a great way to bring just about any hero to life. Perhaps my only wish was that we would have heard more of Mr. York! All in all, this is a book that can be enjoyed while engaging in other activities--like your summer beach time. Not too taxing in the concentration department but you will no doubt still be happy to see the romance flourish in the end!Source: Review copy provided for review purposes.
