Sheila Williams is a best-selling novelist. The Shade of My Own Tree is the bittersweet story of one woman's quest for self-discovery. Opal Sullivan, tired of her abusive husband, walks out on him after 15 unhappy years of marriage. With only her dreams to guide her, she buys an old house in need of fixing and starts over. Now surrounded by a cast of colorful characters, Opal learns some important things about life and second chances-to move forward you have to stop going back.

Sheila Williams is the author of six books, including Things Past Telling, The Secret Women, and Dancing on the Edge of the Roof, the basis for the Netflix film Juanita. She is the librettist for the opera Fierce, commissioned by The Cincinnati Opera, with music by William Menefield, which premiered in July, 2022. She lives in northern Kentucky.
