About this audiobook

A powerful dungeon. A sheep-herder turned Noble. Their path to ascendance through cultivation.

Conquering dungeons and using them to grow has long been the most efficient way to become a powerful adventurer. The only thing keeping the process from being easy is the Beasts that inhabit these places. Questions plague those entering this particular place of power: Where do the "rewards" of weapons, armor, and heavy gold coins come from? Why is a fluffy bunny charging at me? For abyss-sake, why are there so many monsters?

Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Core, a soul forced against his will into a magical stone. With the help of an energetic friend, Cal grows a dungeon around himself to bring in new sources of power.

When a threat he doesn't fully comprehend bares its many teeth, Cal is determined to survive the attempt on his life. Unfortunately for adventurers, the only way for him to achieve his goal is to eat anyone that enters his depths.

Why is this considered good? Guy dies and then turns into an idiot and is stuck in a stone? Wut?

My 1 star review is not for the quality of the book, the book is very interesting and I genuinely like it and laugh quite a bit... The fact that the audio cuts off before the chapter ends to go to the next chapter is infuriating.

An easy read/listen Dungeon crawler but from the dungeons point of view. Very much YA but enjoyable.

It was a Hella fun ride, albeit a bit slow in the middle. Ending was what sealed the deal as a great start of what I hope will be more great entertainment.

Engaging story for the play of the dungeon as a primary character. Bit what I enjoyed mostly is the cultivation discussion. The thoughts on the combination of meridians, energy centers (chakras), breathe work, and visualization were very interesting. Possibly worth looking into for actual cultivation?

The book starts off very slow and I was tempted to put it down, however, it really picks up and was a great read.

Very enjoyable and a nice change of the point of view for one of the main characters.

Hardest thing was trying not to cheer too much for each of the main characters to succeed.

I listened to the audio book and Vikas Adam does an excellent job.

Really a great reversal on the age old dungeon concept. I have to think this was inspired by the video game that did much the same thing - but the layering of the story of the land owner makes the whole think work amazingly well. One of the best fresh books I’ve found in a while.

This was a surprisingly good story. After reading the preview I wasn’t sure I really want to listen to it. I held it in my saved area for several months, and finally decided to listen to it. I think most anyone would enjoy this if they like the fantasy genre.

Cool book. Really made me think of a game where you're making your own dungeon. Awesome stuff.

This is a new genre to me, I have played fantasy games but a story from the perspective of a dungeon was just , really clever

Unique fantasy setting, unlike anything I've read before. Calling is LitRPG may be a stretch, but it was a fun ride regardless.

I really enjoyed this book. It had some moments where the author tried, blatantly, to be funny, or double-entendre, but... I even kinda enjoyed those attempts. I don't read a lot in this genre, so it has a "novelty" shine to it for me, which might mean it's not as good as I think it was, but... that doesn't matter - I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

This is the first book in the Divine Dungeon series. This was a fun fantasy read that was creative and had a ton of gamer geek culture references in it. I enjoyed it quite a bit.I listened to this on audiobook and was really impressed with narration. Adam also narrates The Heartstrikers series and does a great job on that series too. I would definitely recommend listening to on audiobook is you love audiobooks. This book goes between two POVs. The first is that of a newly born dungeon who he trying to grow himself into a more dangerous dungeon. The second is that of a young man who found the dungeon and bought the land the dungeon is on; he is trying to become an adventurer. The whole idea behind dungeons being grown and being a huge part of society is really intriguing and creative. There are tons of wonderful gamer/geek references throughout that I really enjoyed. My only complaint is that sometimes it got a bit dry as mechanics for how the dungeon and ranking up were explained...almost reference bookish.Overall this was a fun read and I plan on continuing the series. I would recommend to those who enjoy fantasy and are into RPGs, the mechanics of gaming, and love reading about dungeon delving.

I picked this book up because the description looked interesting. I definitely got that. This is a unique angle on dungeon adventuring and dungeon creation. A human thief is caught, so a necromancer traps his soul in a soul gem and that gem becomes the heart of a dungeon. When the book first begins, it's just Cal, the dungeon core and his Wisp, Dani. Get about half way in and the author alternates between a group of adventurers delving into the dungeon and the mind at the heart of the dungeon. It's adding an additional twist I'd not considered, but it makes for some fun reading. The book brought an interesting take on dungeon creation, dungeon diving, and (my first time encountering it in fiction) personal energy. To consider a possible soul at the heart... I might have to work some of the concepts into my next RPG game. And then the story just ... ends. No conclusion, no real ending, just stops. It's like the trilogy was one LONG book and the editor just picked spots to break it up. Hate when they do that. Worth going to the next book, though.
