- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So many things made this book great. I loved the biblical references Some areas were written like poetry. The descriptions were vivid and I could relate to pain, anguish and even the will to survive. In a society where history is skimmed over or erased this book reminds us of how far we have come and how important it is to keep fighting for our rights. If I were an educator, this book would be required reading ! Well done!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a great book. It takes you back to the beginning of what it was like to be captured by captors. The author actually takes you on a journey of what life was like on a the slave ship. Great read
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dynamic! Daniel Black does not miss. Awesome book about slavery where the majority of the book takes place on a slave ship. I can’t wait to read more his books.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was very written He’s a master of visual imagery. Unfortunately. The harsh reality of the subject matter was so depressing that I’d be hard pressed to recommend it to anyone.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A haunting story of the slave trade, but delicately written to allow reader to walk through the experience of the enslaved. The story reaffirms the resiliency and strength of the black race. A must read!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It changed my life. I’ve read countless books on slavery, but this one one was written very differently.
