      Daisy McGregor is not precisely an ugly duckling, but she's just not as pretty next to her two sisters. She's used to being ignored by others when Mason Carlisle suddenly starts paying attention to her at a night out. When she finds out that he was just trying to help his brother get a date with her oldest sister, Daisy decides to take advantage. Mason is a nice guy so he goes along with Daisy's scheme to be her date for her other sister's upcoming wedding. In fact, he decides that he must spend more time with Daisy to make the façade seem real. I really enjoyed this book and just ordered another book by the same author. Both Daisy and Mason both grow as their relationship develops. They are both just nice normal people and it's sweet how they both overcome their backgrounds to find each other. Mason is a hottie, former Seal and underwear model, who sees Daisy for the woman she really is. And Daisy is a bit of a mess, but finally manages to assert herself to her mother and sisters. It's a great story.

      The beginning of this book was kind of awkward and unconvincing. Perhaps the writing didn't feel organic , but eventually I fell into it a bit. The sex scenes were kind of sterile, but there was some good relationship development and character growth. The workplace thing was dealt with just well enough to avoid me throwing in the towel.

      However. Without spoilers, I will say the plot took a turn that I felt was inelegant and convenient. As my friend Gaufre said, emotionally manipulative.

      So while I enjoyed this just enough, and actually really loved the hero, I don't know that I'm committing to anymore Anders bc of the awkward writing in the beginning and the cringey, cheap ending. 2.5 rounded up.

      I'm glad I didn't read too many reviews about this book as I was bound to read a spoiler or two, and that would have been a terrible shame.Cleo Knight has taken a job working for international hotel chain owner Dante Damaso. As well as being a very successful man in business he has to be the most inconsiderate, slave driving, s.o.b., on earth, according to Cleo that is. There's not enough she can say about her feelings of disdain for this man...except he's hot to look at, and a stud in bed.Their business trip to Japan is over and their short affair comes to an end and Cleo moves to another department which is best. But despite their plans, weeks later Cleo and Dante find their lives thrown back together. And now the story really begins.And that's it from me. This was a beautifully written story, both characters had a lot of growing up to do. I loved seeing them both mature and realize their feelings.

      This is the best audiobook I've listened to in a long time. I've never read or listened to a book set in South Africa before and that alone made it a special story for me. Ingeborg Riedmaier narrated the book beautifully and in my opinion the story was perfect. I listened to the whole thing in one sitting, I laughed, I cried and repeated both. I look forward to listening/reading more books by Natasha Anders.

      Ok, so there was nothing earth shattering or truly unique about this book but I really liked it a lot. It is a fake dating romance where a young woman, Daisy, considers herself the ordinary, less than, other sister of the family. Mason's brother asks him to be his wingman as he tries to get the attention of Daisy's sister. All Mason has to do is distract Daisy, but he ends of having a good time with her. Of course she finds out that same night what was up and guilts Mason into being her date for her other sister's wedding in two weeks. They begin "fake" dating in order to make it more believable that they would be going to the wedding together. I really thought they were cute together and I liked how Mason treated her until he was trying to distance himself from her close to the end of the book. Obviously they work things out and there are a few teasers to the next book in the series. I think this one will be a new comfort read.

      I liked this, despite contemporary romance not really being my thing. An overheard insult, scathing fatphobic Mean Girls, and a major focus on the heroine's angst and insecrity. Only one complaint: why the hell did SHE have to be the one to grovel in the end? I get that the hero had developed feelings for her, but she had no way of knowing that! He kept insisting that his romantic gestures were for show - and I get why - but she had no reason not to believe him. She took him at his word instead of reading into his action, which is the RIGHT move, IMO. And she was a virgin, ffs! Of COURSE she was unsure; he was one with the upper hand in the relationship, he should have been honest about what he was feeling! Still, of course, being right up my alley, it goes on the approriate shelves, and might be a re-read when looking for chubby-girl angst. And I may check out the next book, too, if it caters to any of my favored tropes. (3.5 stars)
