I enjoyed this romance. I received this book for free and I voluntarily chose to review it .I've given it a 4.5* rating. Because of sexual content and language, it is not suitable for the under 18 readers. This story has a lot going on. Without giving too much away, it has some fun action by the older generation, a dog and a child to stir up some humor and angst in the middle of it all.

I won this book from Chick Lit Central. This was the first time I read a book written by Christine Nolfi. I doubt it will be my last! Totally enjoyable read, with engaging characters, small town love, friendships, and family drama. The story was entertaining and fun. I want to be a Siren! Read the book and see why! Looking forward to the next book!!!!

Like the populations of so many other small towns across the country, the residents of Sweet Lake, Ohio, pride themselves on knowing everything about their neighbors' business. Sometimes they even know more about their neighbors business than their neighbors do. However, the town of Sweet Lake certainly lives up to its name - it's a close-knit, caring community that takes care of its own. Such is the case with Melinda Wayfair. The most prominent family in Sweet Lake is the Wayfair family; who have been the sole proprietors of the Wayfair Inn for generations. While the inn has been passed down from father to son for as long as there have been Wayfairs living in Sweet Lake, the Wayfair Inn has recently fallen on hard times. After her father suffers a serious medical crisis and is forced to retire, her scoundrel of a brother suddenly decides to run off and make movies in California. Linnie Wayfair is absolutely livid.Freddie may believe that he's only fulfilling a lifelong dream and not harming anyone else, but Linnie would respectfully disagree. In her opinion, not only did Freddie leave when he was needed most - essentially deserting the family business to go do his own thing - he left without telling his family anything about where he was going. Linnie is also horrified to discover that Freddie has left all his responsibilities to the Wayfair Inn behind him - and squarely on her shoulders. She knows that there are so many people depending on her, but realizing that the entire population of Sweet Lake is expecting her to become the savior of the Wayfair Inn is truly daunting. Everyone in Sweet Lake is looking to Linnie to employ all of her business acumen - mustering every ounce of her good business sense to restore the Wayfair Inn to its former glory. Her parents hope that she will find it in her heart to forgive her prodigal brother and reconcile the family. The eccentric Sweet Lake Sirens want Linnie to open the inn - and her heart - to new possibilities.Meanwhile, her lifelong friends Jada and Cat continue dropping not-so-subtle hints for her to ignite something with Daniel Kettering, the sexy attorney who has been pining for her for years. Her friends might not be able to wait to see Linnie in a romantic relationship, but she feels that she just has way too much on her plate at the moment. Now, a shocking turn of events will open old wounds and flip Linnie's world totally upside down; threatening everything that she has worked so hard to make her own. She finds herself having to make alterations to her plans for the future - and to make those changes quickly - and the results, while not quite what she might have expected, just might be exactly what she has needed and has been yearning for all along.I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Nolfi creates such loveable and funny characters - characters that I found myself really connecting with and caring about in a fundamental way. In my opinion, this was a beautiful start to a wonderful new series, and I'm avidly waiting to see where the story will go from here. I give this book a definite A+!

MY REVIEW OF "SWEET LAKE'' By  Christine Nolfi"Sweet Lake" by Christine Nolfi is such a feel good read. The author's descriptions of the characters and the Wayfair Inn are told in such a charming way. The genres of this story is Women's Fiction, Fiction with a touch of Romance.Linnie Wayfair has been trying to keep the Wayfair Inn from failing. The Inn has been in the Wayfair family for years. Linnie's father had a stroke, and recovered but has retired with her mother. Linnie shoulders tremendous responsibilities in running the business. Her brother had taken money from the family and has run off to make movies, leaving Linnie in debt and with the responsibility to run the Inn. Linnie's parents have forgiven her brother and in their will are, some disturbing surprises.I enjoyed the quirky "Sweet Lake Sirens", middle age plus women who had rituals of "sisterhood" and eccentric meetings to provide support and believed they had "magical" powers, or powers of suggestion. They also took action in different ways , that I found quite amusing.  The author describes the importance of  support and love of friends and family. Christine Nolfi also discusses the simple act of kindness , believing and standing up for yourself and having hope. I would highly recommend this novel as an enjoyable and delightful novel. Happy Reading!

I just love Christine Nolfi and have enjoyed everything she's ever written. She has a very unique way of telling a tale that is hard to describe, but it's one that can't be duplicated. For sheer enjoyment and storytelling magic, you can't go wrong with one of her novels. I was thrilled to start "Sweet Lake," the first book in her new series and found it to be thoroughly enjoyable. It was one of those books that you just never wanted to end. There are so many crazy, unique and lovable characters in this book that it's hard to know where to begin. She's one of those rare writers where the plot, although superb in every way, is actually incidental to the magic of the setting and the characters. This is a wonderfully enthralling book you won't want to miss.

I freely chose to review this ARC and I liked the story. Who hasn't been involved in sibling rivalry, especially when the male is favoured over the female? Linnie Wayfair always protected her lazy younger brother to save him from the wrath of their dad and growing up every female in Sweet Lake wanted him in their bed. When her brother cleaned out the bank account and fled to California, it almost cost her dad his life. She ship them off to retirement in Florida while she struggled to revive Wayfair Inn and the decline of the town from a disaster, with everyone counting on her including the crazy elderly Sirens that romped naked on the beach she had no time to see that her best pal, Daniel was in love with her. One day, she got a letter from her estranged brother and failed to read it as she knew he wanted something and it was likely she didn't have it

This is a story about a woman, Linnie Wayfair, who is now the owner of the Wayfair Inn. Her parents retired and left the inn to Linnie. Trying to keep the inn open is a challenge, paying her staff, the ones that she kept anyway, the others had to be let go. She receives a letter from her brother Freddie, whom she has not seen in seven years. He is not a very nice person, at least to Linnie. He is a movie producer, doing well, and only thinks of himself. With his visit, Linnie finds that she is not an owner of the inn but part owners with her brother. Freddie hires the town lawyer, Daniel, and Linnie is eager to find out why he did so. Of course, it is a confidential matter but it does put up a wall between Daniel and Linnie, see, Daniel has had a thing for Linnie for a long time and Linnie has kept him at arm's length. With Freddie back in the picture, Daniel and Linnie's relationship is on tender hooks. These are not the only characters in this novel, as we have the Sweet Lake Sirens, a small group of eccentric women who love to have their meetings on the beach by the Wayfair Inn, women who are comfortable with themselves even to the point of having their meetings in the nude. A few of these women actually work at the Inn and are involved deeply in Linnie's life. Linnie would like Freddie to sell her the other half of the inn but money is a bit short. The problem is, there have always been the men in the family who own and operates the Wayfair Inn. Freddie had stolen some money seven years ago and Linnie and the Siren's enlist their help on how to get this money repaid. I really enjoyed this lighthearted, romantic story. At first, I was not sure how I felt about Linnie, she seemed very passive, but over a period of time when her relationship with Daniel turns for the better, I saw a lot of potential in her to stand up for what she believes is rightfully hers. By the end of the story, I really liked her and started to like Freddie. If you are looking for a sweet, lighthearted and fast paced novel, then this one is for you. I had never read anything by Ms. Nolfi but now I look forward to the second book in the series. This book is also part of the Booksparks Wintervention challenge.

I went into this book ready for a sweet read. The story started out fine, yet after a few chapters I found myself struggling to keep reading. My issue was with the characters. No matter how much I tried and tried, I could not find any connections towards any of them. Therefore, if you strip away that fact I am left with just a story that could be about anyone. Although, I did like the charming town of Sweet Lake. In addition, the fact that Daniel was slowly charming his way into Linnie's life was sweet. The fact that Daniel and Linnie did not just fall for each other instantly lent itself nicely to the story. As I have pointed out there are elements of this book that I did enjoy and had I found that strong connection to the characters in the story, I would have kept reading on. However, I would try this author again in the future.

Linnie Wayfair always grew up in the shadow of her older brother. Primarily because the Wayfairs were known to have only one child per generation and that child has always been a son. Her parents broke that tradition by having not only a second child but a daughter. It isn't that her parents don't love her exactly, it's just that tradition dictates the son takes over the management of the Wayfair Inn and they don't buck tradition. Linnie's parents don't seem to be overly concerned that their son took funds from the family and the Inn in order to leave town and start his own business elsewhere. Her parents won't even acknowledge that it has been Linnie that has kept the Inn operating for the past seven years bringing it back from the brink of bankruptcy. What's worse, is that her brother is back in town and even he doesn't seem to care or acknowledge that Linnie has kept things going all these years. Linnie's friends, the older ladies of the town known as the Sweet Lake Sirens, and her friend and probably-not-so-unrequited love interest, Daniel Kettering, all know and respect everything Linnie has and continues to do. Is it possible for Linnie to stand up for herself, confront her brother and parents about the Inn, and finally make a move on Daniel?Just so you know, I absolutely love reading books by Christine Nolfi. Needless to say, when offered the chance to read and review her newest book I jumped at the chance. Sweet Lake was an incredibly fast-paced read and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the small-town setting of Sweet Lake and the idea that everybody knows what's happening in their neighbor's lives, personal and business. I enjoyed the machinations and, yes, eccentricities of the Sweet Lake Sirens. I enjoyed getting to know Linnie and can't wait to really get a feel for her friends, Cat and Jada, as well as others in Sweet Lake. I truly felt for Linnie and wanted to smack her brother and parents at times. Sweet Lake was equal parts coming-of-age and romance for this reader. Ms. Nolfi has provided tons of drama, hints of intrigue, bits of humor, and romance (and the romance had its own dramatic moments). Yes, there's a lot more going on in this story...read the book to find out more! If you enjoy reading stories set in small towns or romance, then you'll definitely want to read Sweet Lake. If you haven't read stories set in a small town or a really good romance in awhile, then you'll also want to grab a copy of Sweet Lake to read. I am quite anxious to read the next installment of this new series and while awaiting that book, I'll be reading and rereading other books by Ms. Nolfi.
