    H. G. Wells (1866-1946) is best remembered for his science fiction novels, which are considered classics of the genre, including The Time Machine (1895), The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896), The Invisible Man (1897), and The War of the Worlds (1898). He was born in Bromley, Kent, and worked as a teacher, before studying biology under Thomas Huxley in London.

      Starts a little slow but is very good once you get going! Everything should must read this book . Very interesting book The War of the Worlds is literally one of the best audiobooks I've ever got to read. It was so amazing.

      It's an interesting Martian invasion, especially since it's far removed from the current Hollywood aliens we're used to. I liked the initial and final explanation, It is worth it for the original characterization of the Martians and the first reactions to the invasion, in conclusion very entertaining and waiting for the long-awaited alien invasion

      I always loved the books of H. G. Wells and this book is one of the best work of him. One of the best fiction novel out there. Far away thinking of author as per that time, where the world was fighting and doing wars he was thinking about the dangers from space.

      This is very interesting even though it starts slowly, you will love his voice and way he explains the story. The War of the Worlds is really an amazing piece. Narrated by Rebecca Dittman, literally i loved his voice. I love to hear story about earth and other planet and possibility of life on other planet!!!

      The War of the Worlds goes beyond the of-the-time popular military invasion fiction, which took away the standard protagonist/antagonist arc of single characters and popped whole countries or tribes in their place, and brings down to Earth a whole new enemy at a time when science fiction did not exist and science itself was oft thought of as fiction.

      H.G Wells is trying to make a point about British Imperialism through his book. His goal is to show people how England's colonies might feel by having the peaceful English countryside razed and innocent people slaughtered and the peoples inability to fight back against an immense foreign power. The normality the Narrator feels with all of the violence holds a parallel to the violence used in colonies to keep the people under control, and how it became a common occurrence

      I acknowledge that I am one of the few people who actually enjoyed the recent "War of the Worlds" movie. The reason for this has to do more with the original book than Tom Cruise or Steven Speilburg's tendency to wittle everything, including alien attacks, down to simple family problems. In a lot of ways, "War of the Worlds" (2006) was a close to dead-on adaptation of the original Victorian novel.
