      I hadn't read Pressfield before, I'm impressed.

      Yes, I could have done without the love interest angle, a device that added nothing to this excellent novel, in my opinion. But, let's face it, I'm a fighter, not a lover and perhaps other types of readers would be more tolerant of this. And yes, I thought that the predictable meeting with Rommel amongst the Afrika Corps Engineers was a little weak and contrived, but I suppose it was necessary (although, I am sure that the novel would not have suffered from the absence of this chapter).

      But hell, it still rocked. Especially for an amateur history nerd whose particular fields of interest are military/WWII/German/Rommel. I gobbled up the whole audiobook in a couple of days.

      Reckon, I'll give one of his other books a tumble, perhaps Gates of Fire.
