About this audiobook

From the bestselling author of the Everything series, a gripping standalone novel exploring long-buried secrets, the strength of forgiveness, and the healing power of returning home for good.

After a harrowing accident tore her family apart, Molly Brennan fled from the man she loved and the tragic mistake she made.

Twelve years later, Molly has created a new life for herself and her eight-year-old daughter, Cassie. The art history professor crafts jewelry as unique and weathered as the surf-tumbled sea glass she collects, while raising her daughter in a safe and loving environment—something Molly never had. But when Cassie is plagued by horrific visions and debilitating nightmares, Molly is forced to return to the one place she swore she’d never move back to—home to Pacific Grove.

A riveting exploration of love, secrets, and motherhood, All the Breaking Waves is the poignant story of a woman who discovers she must confront her past, let go of her guilt, and summon everything in her power to save her daughter.

Loved this book!!! From the very beginning I didn't want to put it down and definitely did not disappoint. Loved the connection with Everything We Keep. Molly comes from a line of woman who have special abilities. Naturally, her daughter Cassie also inherited those abilities and unfortunately she had a premonition of Molly's death. Molly grew up with an alcoholic father who blamed everyone but himself for his problems. He forbids his wife and daughter from using their abilities. After her mother's tragic death, her father dies and Molly blames herself. She leaves her grandmother's house and the boy she loves, Owen. When Cassie has a vision of Molly's death, they head straight for Nana Mary's house. Luckily Owen still lives right next door. Molly fears she is going to drown and does everything to prevent it, even going as far as to wear a life vest. I kept thinking- Stay away from the ocean, don't get in the shower/tub. But really it was unexpected how Cassie's vision came true.I really enjoy the author's writing style and can't wait to read more of her books. Thanks to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing and the author, Kerry Lonsdale, for a free electronic ARC of this novel. It was a wonderful read.

The story was intriguing, but I struggled with the reader’s mispronunciation of San Luis Obispo. This city was referred to multiple times throughout the book. I live in central California, and it is NOT San Luis Obisco.

Interesting Plot Theme. All The Breaking Waves is women's fiction with a twist of supernatural. The story, which centers around a family of women with psychic powers, is a unique suspense drama. When Molly's 8 year old daughter begins to use her "gift", it dredges up a past she has tried to keep buried. Having no choice but to seek refuge at her grandmother's house, Molly begins to deal with her past, her own paranormal "gifts", and reconnect with the people she left behind.Much different from the author's other novels, this vivid first person narrative reveals a story fraught with guilt, misunderstandings, family secrets and death. The well rounded characters and rich detail added depth to the plot, but it was just too outlandish for me to stay completely involved with the story.

I loved reading Kerry Lonsdale's first book and was excited to read this one. When an author writes well, I want to read everything they write, maybe even their grocery list. That being said, this second book was wonderful. It is so well-written that I finished it over a week ago and have not been able to write this review until now, simply because I still wanted my friends from the book to be current and not something I had already done. I have a difficult time writing reviews because I tend to give away too much or not enough, so what I usually do is let you know how the book made me feel, or how the writing was. I did not really have a character in this book that I totally disliked, but more than one that I fell in love with. I loved a grandmother, a granddaughter, a young child, a neighbor, and ended up not disliking the people I thought I did. The book is full of love and misunderstandings and tragedies and near tragedies and ........oh, it's a lot like life. Read it. You will be filled with emotions. You will fall in love. You will cry. You will FEEL.

Molly has a psychic gift that she has suppressed for years because her father taught her that it was bad. Now her young daughter Cassie is showing signs of having the same gift and Molly's life is plagued with how to get her daughter to change before she becomes at outcast to her friends. They leave home and return to her grandmother's house that she had fled from many years before. While there trying to find a way to help her daughter, Molly tries to learn more about herself and her mother and grandmother. This novel is a wonderful story of family love and involves a grandmother, mother, daughter and her daughter. They all have secrets that they are hiding from each other and it's only through unlocking those secrets can Cassie learn to cope with her life and Molly can learn to love life again. I loved this book and all of the characters - especially Molly. Even though she was flawed from events in her past, she loved her daughter and only wanted the best for her. She had to learn from the past in order to help herself and her daughter despite the difficulty in doing it. There are also strong feeling for Noah, the boy that she left behind many years before. Will Molly be able to accept her past to provide a better future for her and her daughter???I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
