About this audiobook
The latest Scandinavian publishing phenomenon is not a Stieg Larsson-like thriller; it's a book about chopping, stacking, and burning wood that has sold more than 200,000 copies in Norway and Sweden and has been a fixture on the bestseller lists there for more than a year. Norwegian Wood provides useful advice on the rustic hows and whys of taking care of your heating needs, but it's also a thoughtful attempt to understand man's age-old predilection for stacking wood and passion for open fires. An intriguing window into the exoticism of Scandinavian culture, the book also features enough inherently interesting facts and anecdotes and inspired prose to make it universally appealing.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great functional information with a dose of family tails that bring back memories of my grandparents and extended family.
I'll be re-listening to this book again and again - many parts of it worth pondering why harvesting timber is time well spent! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I listened to this because I thought it would be really interesting to hear about the culture of wood fires. To my surprise this was a really good discussion in the opportunities in clean burning fireplaces.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I've just split quite a bit of wood and he doesn't cover the aching muscles, blisters, and ruined boots enough.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I have no idea why, but I loved this.OK, so I've been a timber framer in the past and I do have a lot of axes, but I live nowhere near Hoxton.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fantastic coffee table book. Would recommend for any waiting room to calm down the weary middle-aged man. You will learn many fascinating facts. For example, did you know that despite every Norwegian family chopping down two hectares of forest each year they don't use any wood as fuel in the winter and simply keep warm by basking in their smugness? Fact.
Taking off one star for product placement because a leveraxe is an overpriced gimmick and I will personally come over and laugh at you if you buy one. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very easy read - interesting and very informative about the value of wood, fires and 'how to'!
