About this audiobook

Pru's life in England is coming full circle. A Texas transplant, she's married to the love of her life, thriving in the plum gardening position she shares with her long-lost brother, and prepping a Chelsea Flower Show exhibit featuring the beloved bluebonnets of the Texas hill country. Technically, Twyla Woodford, the president of a gardening club in the Lone Star State, is in charge of the London event, but Pru seems to be the one getting her hands dirty. When they finally do meet, Pru senses a kindred spirit-until Twyla turns up dead.

Although Twyla's body was half buried under a wall in their display, Pru remains determined to mount a spectacular show. Twyla would have insisted. So Pru recruits her husband, former Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Pearse, to go undercover and do a bit of unofficial digging into Twyla's final hours. If Pru has anything to say about it, this killer is going to learn the hard way not to mess with Texas.

Pru Marlowe is living in England, married to a policeman, and gardening with her brother. But once a Texan, always a Texan, so when a Texas gardening club asks her to help them with their display at the Chelsea Flower Show, she is more than happy to help. The display is to feature Texas bluebonnets, but the installation of the display is plagued with problems. Then the president of the Texas society is found murdered and Pru is right in the middle of it all. A fun cozy mystery with a behind-the-scenes look at the famous Chelsea Flower Show, this is another great addition to the Potting Shed Mysteries.

When an old friend calls asking for help, Pru Parke finds herself creating a version of Texas's hill country complete with bluebonnets at the Chelsea Flower Show. She is eager to have the opportunity but knows she is just a fill-in until the president of the Austin Rock Garden Society, Twyla Woodford, arrives. She picks up the mixed assortment of gardeners at the airport but Twyla isn't there. She stayed behind for some unspecified reason. After a couple of days working with a small crew, Pru meets Twyla and the garden and quickly bonds with her. However the next day Twyla's body is found in one of the trenches that they were digging in the garden. Although Pru and her husband Christopher have no authority, Pru can't let the matter stay in the hands of the police. She begins investigating on her own. Pru has lots of suspects. For some reason, Twyla has gathered a crew that she has a history with. The landscaper is a former lover. So is the nominal garden designer. And the garden's sponsor is her ex-husband. Also hanging around is a former student of Twyla's from her days when she taught high school chemistry who is trying to sell something related to bluebonnets to Twyla's former husband. Throw in a jealous live-in and two of the Texan imports who have a crush on Prince Harry and you have a nicely complex plot with lots of suspects for Pru to investigate.Christopher goes undercover as Kit and works along side Pru in the garden both to help her investigate and to protect her since her cases usually end up putting her in danger. I like the relationship between Pru and Christopher as they have a marriage of equals and a really suited to one another. This was a fun cozy and a great addition to the Potting Shed Mysteries.

This is one of the best cozy mysteries that I have read in a long time. The writing was excellent, the characters were interesting, the plot made sense. I loved that it was set at the Chelsea Flower Show. It was fun to see the behind the scenes of display gardens.

I have read some books lately where the killer and his motive make no sense. That is not the case here. When the big reveal comes, the reasoning is clear.

This is the first book in the series that I have read. I enjoyed it so much I am looking forward to reading the earlier books.

I received a free ARC from Netgalley.

This is the fifth Potting Shed book and the third I have read. I have had not problems following the various stories even though I have not read them all. It can be read as a standalone, but after reading this, you will probably want to go back and read them all. Pru Parke is a transplanted Texan that is now living in England. She is recently married and is a well-known gardener. When the Austin Rock Garden Society (ARGS) is invited to participate in the Chelsea Garden Show, Pru is contacted to be their liaison and assist in setting up their exhibit until everyone arrives, including Twyla, the designer and force behind the entry. She is thrilled for the opportunity and jumps at it, leaving Christopher, her police husband, at home. Pru jumps right in helping to build a breathtaking garden display showcasing the wild flowers of Texas, specifically Bluebonnets. There are walls to be built, a building to construct and thousands of flowers to showcase. The team arrives, all except Twyla, and what a group they are. Early the next morning, Pru arrives only to find the dead body of Twyla, who she had met the previous evening. After a short conversation, Pru left and Twyla was alone with the garden in progress. She had hinted to Pru that there was a problem, but no one seemed to know anything about it.

I enjoy this series. It definitely has the British take on it, so if you do not enjoy a good British Cozy, this series might not be for you. This book's supporting characters are quite interesting and unique. They make the story is fun and I laughed out loud several times. The two Texan women who look so much alike that no one can tell the difference are hysterical. Sweetie, what a great name for a Texan Garden Society Member, is looking for a man. The characters are easy to relate to, whether regulars or book specific. The locations are well described so you can picture them and the plot is well developed and moves nicely. A nice addition to the series and cozy mystery genre.
