About this audiobook
Award-winning comedian Paula Poundstone is legendary for her spontaneous wit and razor-sharp humor. She is a popular panelist on NPR's Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me! and tours regularly, keeping audiences laughing in her one-woman shows. In North by Northwest, Paula is at her best in two memorable performances, one recorded in Bayfield, Wisconsin, at Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua and the other at the historic Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon. Join Paula Poundstone in her element: sharing too much information, telling unpredictable stories, and interacting with her audience with a spontaneity that is considered without peer. Says Paula about her first double live CD, "Laughter is the best medicine, and I prescribe two CDs when symptoms occur."

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5North by Northwest: Paula Poundstone Live!by Paula PoundstoneIt's been a long time since I listen to or watched Paula Poundstone do her magic and I forgot just how funny and quick witted she is! This was another super sale offer from chirp and I am so glad I picked it up!She does two shows, one for Cheeseheads and one in Oregon. Both are hilarious and the perfect relaxing, fun way to unwind. She is such a hoot! Loved it so much!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This title was in the audiobook section of my library and being as Poundstone does have at least a couple of books out, I assumed this was just another one I hadn't heard of yet. It's actually just a recording of two of her live stand-up shows. That's not a bad thing; but just a warning for anyone expecting a book.Actually, I was quite pleased with the stand-up because my past exposure to Poundstone has been via podcasts and books, so it was a nice change of pace to actually hear her live routine. She riffs with the crowd, walking that fine line between teasing the audience members without mocking them. She also talks about various things in her life, including her cats and children, in a sort of free-form, almost stream-of-consciousness, way. Because I have followed her other works, I did notice that some of these comments were variations of other jokes I've heard from her before. Also, there were a few times that jokes repeated themselves within this collection because the recording includes two different events. Again, these were with some variation and they were still funny, but I found it an odd choice to have such repetitions in a single collection that's only two hours long.
