About this audiobook

Gift shop owner Stormy Day is settling into her new life until she comes across a frozen body, hidden inside a well-dressed snowman. When her own father is implicated in the murder, Stormy must chase down clues and uncover the town's secrets herself.

As she draws closer to identifying the killer, Stormy's own life may be in danger-that is, unless Jeffrey, the mischievous Russian Blue cat who led her to the icy body in the first place, can flick his sleek gray tail at the final piece in the puzzle.

It was free. I've read Angela Pepper before and it was fine. Nothing special. This book though was kind of terrible. It started out decent if not absurdly weird but it was all downhill from there. The main character was a nutter - it was like she was too hyped to make sense. There was a lot of telling of what her character was like instead of showing and I just generally didn't like her. The romance made no sense. He was hot. That was basically it. She has one conversation and all of a sudden they're in some serious relationship type shit in a police station. This whole book was just so far from realistic - there was no depth to the characters or the plot. I think Stormy could have been a really interesting and entertaining character but she fell short.

I'm rating two stars because I generally don't like giving one if it's not quite one - it's more a 1.5 stars.

After returning home to Misty Falls, Oregon, Stormy Day is excited about her new house and business. She's trying to get used to living in a small town again where nothing is private. On top of that, she isn't happy with her dad's new girlfriend, Pam, who has moved in with him as his caregiver. Stormy doesn't like the woman because she treats people so badly. She never asks but demands that Stormy does what she wants and shouts and complains about everything. Stormy went off looking for Pam's cat, after being told to do so. She found the cat sitting on top of a snowman in the neighbour's yard. She finally gets him into the carrier with treats. Before taking him to Pam, Stormy takes a selfie with the snowman but notices his head is crooked. When she straightens it she found the body of the neighbour, Murray Michaels, inside the snowman. When Stormy's father is a suspect in the murder, she decides to investigate and find the real killer herself. She found out much more than she imagined. She learned lots of secrets thanks to people willing to gossip, but what secret was real and what wasn't?Stormy was an intelligent, strong woman who was determined to find Murray's killer. She was friendly and liked people, making it easier for them to open up to her. I didn't really understand where she got all her money from or how much she had. It sounded like quite a bit since she was buying investment properties. Because of that question, I couldn't connect with Stormy and felt confused by her much of the time. This promises to be an enjoyable series with Stormy and Jeffery Blue, a Russian Blue cat. If you like mysteries with a bit of humour then you'll like this book.

I liked the personality of the main character, Stormy Day. This book is perfect for a rainy day and a good cup of tea under your favorite quilt.

A small town murder mystery that starts out with some fun bits. Stormy's imagination gets to be a bit much at times--imagining that people she meets are the killer--though other parts are cute--like Stormy's conversations with the cat and how she interprets his responses. I didn't guess who the murderer was until very late in the story, but I did guess before it was revealed by the author. I would read more in the series.
