About this audiobook

Twenty years ago, a terrible tragedy shattered the tranquility of the small Pennsylvania Dutch town of Reflection. The residents of the village have never forgiven the one woman they blamed for what happened-Rachel Huber. After the incident, Rachel left the town and cut off all ties there. But when Rachel receives the news that her estranged grandmother, Helen, is ill and needs her care, she returns to Reflection. On arrival she discovers that the town has not forgotten the past, and, amongst the hostility and gossip, Rachel is forced to seek out old allies and new passions. Soon she finds an unlikely advocate in her grandmother, who surprises her with her wise counsel and rare strength. Rachel comes to realize that they are both trying to overcome the past, and in doing so brings private guilt and concealed secrets into the light.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read/listen. I don't think I have ever read any Diane Chamberlain books before and not sure, but I guess they are faith/religious related as this book had that theme running through it. Interesting twist to the outcome of a terrible community tragedy. Enjoyable however there were some liberties that the author appeared to take regarding the Pennsylvania location that weren't exactly correct and I didn't really believe that this main character never took either of her husbands last names which of course would have changed the storyline. But all in all a good read.

A very inspiring story based in Pennsylvania Dutch country of friendship, love, loss, and forgiveness. Without giving away the story, Rachel returns to her hometown of Reflection after being away for over twenty years, due to a horrible tragedy to care for her grandmother. The town where she grew up with her best friends - Luke and Michael hold many memories; however, upon returning Rachel finds people are still angry with her and blame her for the tragedy which happened years earlier. Michael now, (unhappily married) and a minister of Mennonite church picks up his strong relationship with Rachel while they both try to save the land and town from new developments.

The grandmother and the granddaughter have more in common than you may think. There are hidden secrets which will change the course of the future; however, to do so may affect many others. A well-written story combining three generations of families with the strength to overcome all obstacles. You will not want to put this book down, as this beautiful story will keep you engrossed with its secrets of the past- as truths unfold with loveable characters who find the strength and sacrifice their needs for the community within a quaint setting.
