About this audiobook

Twelve-year-old Phoebe Callahan longs to enjoy a storybook Christmas. So after she learns that she and her three girl cousins will spend their holiday vacation in New England on their grandma's island estate, she plans the Christmas of her dreams. When she reaches Gull Island, the cold breeze and cloudy skies foster her fondest fantasy-a white Christmas. Phoebe imagines her grandma's stately three-story home with lights in every window. But after Grandma Gee's heirloom angel shatters, Phoebe learns that life's greatest joy comes from giving to others.

Susan says: This is the last book in the series about the Callahan cousins, who go every summer to Gull Island to visit their grandmother. In this book they go to Gull Island for Christmas, and Phoebe really wants it to be the 'proper Christmas' she's never had at home. Luckily the girls and Gee (the grandmother) pull together to make a proper Christmas, with the typical missteps and problems, mostly including their friend/enemy Sloan. Phoebe decides to get her grandmother a puppy for Christmas as a surprise, and that has the potential to turn out very wrong, but the other cousins tell her about it in time. These books really have the feeling of Nantucket, even though Carey claims the island is a barrier island off Rhode Island. They also are warm, caring and fun - full of life's lessons even though it doesn't feel like it. I'm sorry these books are over, as I have enjoyed them.
