About this audiobook

No one in town has ever seen anything like it: a slimy, mobile tube of glistening yellow flesh with dull, staring eyes and an obscene, probing mouth. But the real horror is not what it looks like, or what it does when it invades your flesh—but what it makes you do to others.

Ever wonder what it might be like if modern Frank Miller wrote Slither? Well, wonder no more!I don't know how a book about a parasyte that makes you cannibalistic could be SO BORING! Fortunately its so ridiculous in places that its hilarious. All the women are either ravenous sex objects or screaming shrews. And the men are alll stuck on "stupid-horny" mode. No means yes, to everyone. And any time it looks like a woman is going to make a stand, she "comes around" later.

If you read this as more of a pastiche full of edgy meat, its brilliant! But if you go in expecting legit body horror or characters you can connect with, let me save you the trouble.

This book is full of sexual violence and and depravity and is not for everyone. That aside, very well written and the characters, very well developed. Some of the reactions or responses seemed not so natural but it didn't take away from the excitement the author created. I would have loved to hear what happened to Toby at the hands of Sheri, It was hard to hear all the abuse she endured and not to give us the final violent act of revenge seems unfare, ergo 4 stars from me.

Corny as hell. And why does the narrator sound like he’s talking to a bunch of three year olds?. Campy and silly.

I didn’t love the ‘voices’ put on by the reader I found the women’s voices very annoying. But I love Richard Laymon so still enjoyed the book. Consider it the junk food of my literary enjoyment.

Read so many of Laymon's books and this is definitely my last. Felt like I read the best of his books already. OK so knowing Laymon sad endings are inevitable. But this one surprised me. The story was the usual like most of his other books so I wont divulge into that. Just thinking where he gets his creativity from creating his character for his monsters/aliens or whatever they are. Gore is ok and lust/erotic is very mellow on this book. I was a bit in suspense with the last chapter just waiting for something to happen to Allison. What if this thing laid an egg in her and comes out bursting from her back or she ends up killing Jake and Kimmy. That never happened which caught me by surprise. The book is ok so if you a fan of Laymon then its a must read.

This is a pretty enjoyable book. Of course, it's got Laymon's trademarks; sex and gore. But it's actually a pretty interesting story, if a tad predictable towards the end. Fans of Richard Laymon's other work will not be disappointed, but it won't be changing anyone else's mind about him.

A gory serial killer tale that uses a supernatural device as an excuse to write a gory serial killer tale.

A very interesting take on the parasite-takes-control-of-people sub-genre of fiction. Flesh involves a group of college students and those near them as they try to figure out what has happened. Filled with the typical Laymon stock characters, Flesh isn't as good as some of his other works, but it's still suspenseful, fun to read, and a great book on its own right. Definitely a must for Laymon or horror fans.
