About this audiobook

Though he’s still tormented by his brother’s murder and the accident that ended his career, ex-homicide detective Liam Dempsey is trying to move on. His girlfriend and their adopted son are the best things that ever happened to him—and being a police liaison is the next best thing to being back on the force. But when an old friend asks for his help, Liam is thrust into a harrowing investigation that reawakens his darkest personal demons.

A politician has been violently attacked, and his wife is kidnapped for ransom. But as police mobilize to track the victim and trap her abductor, the case takes a chilling turn from extortion to grisly murder. Whoever snatched Valerie Farrow wants blood and money—and they’re brutally collecting.

Working with, and against, the police, Liam is forced to dig deep to expose the ugly truth—even if it means digging his own grave in the process.

Ex-homicide detective Liam Dempsey now police consultant is asked my a friend to help when his wife is kidnapped for ransom. But when bodies turn up he has to decided if it is all connected.
I thought it was an okay story but never seemed to get me enthralled, I don't know why as it was well written.

Liam Dempsey was once a police detective but due to an unfortunate accident, he quit and is now a consultant for the police. He receives a phone call from an old friend from the academy whose wife has been kidnapped and he needs help. He goes, ruffles a few feather with the police there, but since he buddy is well connected, he is allowed to say and assist. And he is back in the game. As the investigation continues, so does the suspense. Liam had theories and follows up on them that piss people off. This is a gripping mystery that has believable characters and plot, some twists and a unexpected ending. I certainly enjoyed it.
