- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I tried with this book but found it difficult to like. The characters, the plot, the world it's set in..... how long it took to get to an important event could have been much shorter and it dragged on. Kip irritated me a lot, his character only ever seemed to have 2 sides; the pathetic boy or the brave fighter with nothing in between.
Also, I wasn't a fan of the way women were described and it wasn't something I'd want to see recurring regularly in other books written by Brent Weeks. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Nothing too deep that will show you a deeper perspective on life but it will most definitely keep you interested.
I don't know what others are talking about and complaining about with the fatphobia and "sexualization" of the female characters. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I downloaded this audiobook to be played offline but couldn’t do that because of reasons unknown to me
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Why is this not Available in the US? Been waiting for the audio books for a long time now. Book is awesome, wishing I could listen to them.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I enjoy the plot and the magic system is interesting but this writer can't have a scene with a woman without mentioning their breasts. There is so much about how strong the women are but it feels very superficial and ends up feeling sexist. Also, I really hope the slavery problems are addressed and not just ignored and accepted.....
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5They’re not available in the US. ??? why put them on the list of I can’t listen to them?!

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I have such mixed feelings about this book. It's trying to make women strong but ends up being kinda sexist. It's trying to include an imperfect main character but ends up fat shaming him. I could go on, but maybe these things won't bother you? It bothered me though.... I managed to finish the book, but I cannot decide if the book got better and so I wanna read the next book to see if it gets better still? Or maybe it just isn't good enough for me to waste more time on this series? Mixed review, mixed feelings, not sure if I will keep reading.
