      Can’t rate the book as I couldn’t listen for more than a few chapters. I really wanted to listen to this book but the narrator made it impossible. Read like he didn’t understand punctuation, ran sentences together ignoring full stops then paused at random times in the middle of a sentence while sounding like he was bored rigid. Couldn’t tell who was supposed to be saying what. Frustrating and disappointing.

      Great story line, lousy narrator. I couldn't stand hearing the constant breathing, swallowing and pulling air through his nose and mouth simultaneously making a noise much like a bulldog or Boston terrier. It could have fit the character of Mack but it was present for all characters. There was not a great degree of diversity in the voices between the various characters.

      I also could not help but feel the story was high jacked now and then by a preacher who needed to get his sermon published. I believe in God and read the Bible but this felt like two stories forced together to look like one. I really did like the storyline if it wasn't for that.

      I will be avoiding future books with this narrator and author due to the preachiness and nasal sounds.

      It was well-written and the narration was good. A little difficult to keep up with the numerous characters and I didn't care for the cheesy background music between chapters, but it presented a strong gospel message, lots of vivid imagery and some interesting twists & turns.

      If only I could give 10 stars. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is a departure from the books I usually read ,but now I'm a fan. I intend to find and work my way though Mr Whitlow's books.
      Also I must sing praise for the narrator. Sometimes a great story is ruined by bad narration. I loved this narrator who is also new to me. Thank you Scribd, you've surpassed my expectations in quality and quantity of service.

      I enjoy this story. Lots of twists and turns. The only thing I did not care for was the narrator's pace. It was too quick but when I slowed the speed it felt slightly too slow. Otherwise I enjoyed the story and would listen to it again.

      I really liked the trial intrigue and the ending was such a beautiful depiction of God's providence and grace. Mac's conversion just seemed a bit abrupt to me. He went through all the usual phases; it's just the last ones seemed rushed. Would still recommend as a good Christial legal mystery, though!

      The reader has a calming voice. Like the twist with The Who done it. I especially like the messages in regard to our Lord. They were not overpowering but something of meat for all of us to remember and try ourselves.
      I have listened to many of Robert Whitlow’s books and free life has been made happier for me. I’m 86 and will continue to be blessed by Mr. Whitlow’s writing’s. Thank you.

      I was so disappointed in this book. I was thinking I was going to get a Grisham-like book, and instead I got some cheesy become a Christian, pray and all things will right themselves. It was billed to me as a legal thriller book - legal, yes; thriller - umm, no. Unless hiking through woods, everyone turning their lives around, finding true love, and everything wrapped up all nice and lovely counts as a thriller. Okay, so there was one semi-scary part in the book, but alas, I am scratching my head at the thriller part.Now, sometimes I want easy, happily-ever-after the book ends with everything being wonderful - but that is not what I thought this book was. I was so disappointed.And might I also add that Whitlow makes a huge mistake that I think so many Christian authors do - the book is predictable, the message is the same old, and gaining faith (or a deeper sense of faith) somehow makes everything so wonderful and perfect - including in this book a person with a mental issue being prayed over and suddenly the mental issue goes away. I'm sorry, but real life doesn't work that way and I think that mindset sets up too many people for failure - if I had more faith, I wouldn't be depressed. If God loved me I would struggle with anxiety. Suicidal thoughts would lead my mind if only I prayed more. No. It doesn't work that way. Bi-polar can't be prayed away. Becoming a Christian - or getting a deeper faith - does not mean all wounds will heal, true love will appear and all wrongs in your life will be righted. It's naive at best to portray faith in these terms.I wouldn't recommend this book. I doubt I will pick up any Whitlow books in the future. And as soon as I read this book, I promptly got rid of it.
