About this audiobook
Most people today believe that we live in a closed, mechanistic universe, that is, a universe that functions from day to day according to certain physical forces and causes. Classical Christianity has taken a very different view, teaching that God is the primary cause of the universe, but also that He is the primary cause of everything in the universe and of everything that happens in the universe and in short, that God, not mechanistic forces, is the primary cause of what is and what happens.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sproul has produced a fine introduction to pneumatology that is quick to read and easily accessible. This book is not comprehensive, but it is not intended to be. Sproul introduces the reader to the foundations of pneumatology, namely the Holy Spirit as a person and as divine. These are probably the best parts of the work. Sproul uses a careful blend of exegesis and illustration. He is not looking to create a commentary, so he does not belabor the point. He does write enough to give confidence that he is not doing an injustice to the text. Sproul also develops a number of the ministries of the Spirit. Here brevity works against the author. Not all of the ministries are developed and those that are still given a brief treatment. Ideally, the reader will use this as an introduction and will find further resources. For most new students, this will be a useful beginning volume.
