About this audiobook

An original full cast audio adaptation of the New York Times bestselling graphic novel sensation from ND Stevenson, based on his beloved and critically acclaimed web comic.

Nimona is the New York Times bestselling graphic novel sensation from ND Stevenson, based on his beloved and critically acclaimed web comic. Kirkus says, “If you’re going to read one graphic novel this year, make it this one.”

Nemeses! Dragons! Science! Symbolism! All these and more await in this brilliantly subversive, sharply irreverent epic from ND Stevenson. Featuring an exclusive epilogue not seen in the web comic, along with bonus conceptual sketches and revised pages throughout, this gorgeous full-color graphic novel has been hailed by critics and fans alike as the arrival of a “superstar” talent (NPR.org).

Nimona is an impulsive young shapeshifter with a knack for villainy. Lord Ballister Blackheart is a villain with a vendetta. As sidekick and supervillain, Nimona and Lord Blackheart are about to wreak some serious havoc. Their mission: prove to the kingdom that Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin and his buddies at the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics aren't the heroes everyone thinks they are.

But as small acts of mischief escalate into a vicious battle, Lord Blackheart realizes that Nimona's powers are as murky and mysterious as her past. And her unpredictable wild side might be more dangerous than he is willing to admit.

Okay so I really loved the sense of adventure in this book and considering (at least to my understanding) that it is a middle grade novel I thought it was awesome that the book challenged what most people believe to be good or evil. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars as it was a very enjoyable novel.

It's a wonderful and magnificent book that put the hole prospective of loving one another and accepting others and the ability for us as humans to grow in a fresh and lightning way to all ages and cultures put it simply it's an old idea that has been given life yet again

A charming story about a misunderstood super villain and his impetuous new sidekick. Nimona is a shapeshifter and an ambition apprentice villain. She's got all sorts of wild plans to help Sir Blackheart overthrow the government and get insanely rich. Meanwhile, Blackheart has his hands full trying to get Nimona to adhere to his complicated moral code. The government's sanctioned hero - Goldenloin - is an old flame of Blackheart's. Goldenloin has been ordered to capture Blackheart and kill Nimona outright, but he's beginning to wonder if he's really on the side of good.A complex tale about good and evil and what really makes a monster.A delightful story in any form, this full cast production does suffer from a lack of images. However, the voice acting and a touch of gentle narration makes it work.

This is the only graphic novel I own, and the only one that I've loved enough to consider a favourite. It's hilarious. It's heart-warming. It's just an all around wonderful, beautifully illustrated story. I LOVE IT.

This was a really cute, fun read! The art was great, the plot fast-paced, and the characters were really cool. I liked that even though this was short, you still got to know the characters and their backstory (I thought it was funny how they did that), and you get to know the why behind their actions. Even though this was short- I still cared about what happened to Nimona, Ballister, and even Goldenloin. Super enjoyable read! and I'm really glad I decided to pick up graphic novels this year :)

This is a short, simple story, artfully performed. The Radioplay feel of this adaptation is well suited to the graphic novel source material, as it is heavy in dialogue, and much of the action is described contextually where possible so as to retain narrative flow.

I really like this! It’s super creative and detailed! So it’s certainly means different things in different people’s perspective’s! And it also showed so many plot twist’s! And I love that it showed so much emotion! I just wish that there was at least one LGBTQ+ love somewhere in the story...

I am so upset that I didn't love Nimona as much as I thought I would, but, as with most things that are widely touted as being wonderful, it didn't quite live up to the hype.

While I usually absolutely love everything that Noelle Stevenson touches, I found Nimona annoying and I was unable to relate to her or her motivations. What I did love, however, was the relationship between Ballister and Ambrosius. Their backstory was the most compelling part of the the whole story and I would have loved to have both learned more and seen more of their interactions with each other. Nimona herself felt like an awkward third wheel from my perspective. Perhaps if I had read her story at a different time in my life I would have reacted to it differently, but I find that to be true of most books and stories.

Took a while for the plot to start rolling and I got distracted by several other books before I returned to this and discovered that the story was delightful and engaging and I regretted not having finished it sooner.

I didn't think this would make me cry, but it did. I've just finished the book, and I already miss Nimona and Blackheart! I think Nimona is going to remain an all-time favourite character of mine. I loved the story, too; I was at the edge of my seat all the way, and the clever turns never failed to surprise me. I've been putting off reading this book for a couple of months now, but I'm really glad I finally did!

Having not been amused by Stevenson's "Lumberjanes" I approached this also widely hailed title with caution only to find myself engaged and endeared. A lovely touching story that is both humorous and fantastically odd. Nimona is a wonderful character! She's a shapeshifter and I've always had a soft spot for 'shifters. But Nimona is unusual, she's either a girl who can turn into any living being she wants including a monster, or! she's a monster who can turn into any living being she wants including a girl. I loved the relationship between her and the not very evil villain. The story is full of action and adventure, but it is also about the oppression and fight for freedom of a town under the thumb of an oppressive, totalitarian government. I wasn't thrilled with the ending but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed my journey getting there and loved the art throughout.
