- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Inhaltsangabe:Ein altes Haus in Frankreich, nah am Strand. Für Jen, Conor, Natalie, Andrew, Lilah und Dan war es ihr Feriendomizil. Sechs junge Menschen, die gerade ihren Abschluss an der Hochschule erworben haben und für die nun der Ernst des Lebens losgeht. Eine eingeschworene Gemeinschaft, Freunde fürs Leben. Doch dann verändert ein tragischer Unfall alles.16 Jahre später. Jen will das Haus in Frankreich verkaufen und lädt noch einmal ihre Freunde zu einem Wochenende ein. Sehr ungewöhnlich, denn sie hat die anderen seit dem tragischen Sommer nicht mehr gesehen. Auch erwähnt sie bei den Einladungen nicht, das die anderen auch eingeladen sind. Nicht nur Jen hat den Unfall nicht wirklich verarbeitet, auch die anderen tragen ihre Päckchen und so ist es unausweichlich, das die Konflikte schon gleich an der Haustür aufbrechen.Doch dann sitzen sie wegen eines Schneesturms fest und es bleibt ihnen gar nichts anderes übrig als sich mit den vergangenen 16 Jahren zu befassen. Dabei wird deutlich, das nicht nur der Unfall ihr Leben verändert hat.Mein Fazit:Der Plot dieser Geschichte klang sehr interessant und ich hatte mich für die Teilnahme an der Leserunde (nebst Verlosung von Büchern) beworben.Der Anfang dieser Geschichte war für mich sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig. Es kam gleich Fahrt auf und viele wütende Dialoge beherrschten die Seiten. Die Namen flogen so hin und her und ich als Leserin musste aufpassen, dem folgen zu können. Im Laufe der Geschichte wurde es jedoch besser und ab der Mitte des Romans konnte ich es auch nicht mehr aus der Hand legen.Die Figuren wurden am Anfang auch nicht so gezeichnet, wie es ihnen gerecht wurde. Erst im Laufe der Geschichte bekamen sie mehr Raum und als Leserin entwickelte ich dann auch Empathie. Damit der Leser das alles besser versteht, hat die Autorin unzählige Briefe zwischen den Figuren eingefügt. Eine gute Idee, aber ich fand einfach, das es am Ende zuviel war. Auch die Zeitsprünge waren ziemlich häufig, so das auch da die volle Aufmerksamkeit gefordert war.Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist für mich etwas ungewöhnlich. Er ist anders, dabei kann ich noch nicht einmal genau beschreiben, warum.Die Handlung des Romans fand ich jedoch sehr interessant und ich wollte letztendlich wissen, wie es ausgeht. Schon recht früh kann man eine Ahnung bekommen, wo es hinausläuft, aber der Leser erfährt dann doch noch mal eine Überraschung (wie einige Male zuvor auch). Im Großen und Ganzen hat es mir Spaß gemacht, die knapp 450 Seiten zu lesen.Vor mir bekommt der Roman vier Sterne.Anmerkung: Ich habe es als eBook gelesen.Veröffentlicht am 30.10.14!
