About this audiobook

You think you are rid of me. You think you have drawn a line under the whole affair. You are so, so wrong…
For five years, Sally and Clive have been lost in a passionate affair. Now he has dumped her, to devote himself to his wife and family, and Sally is left in freefall. It starts with a casual stroll past his house, and popping into the brasserie where his son works. Then Sally befriends Clive's wife and daughter on Facebook. But that's alright isn't it? I mean they are perfectly normal things to do. Aren't they?

"THE MISTRESS'S REVENGE" BY TAMAR COHEN (REVIEW)This book was fascinating, spooky, humorous, insane, and even a little bit heartbreaking. There are multiple emotions throughout this book and in the end, even though you know it's not right you find yourself glad that the heroine in this story got her final revenge. When Sally Islip is dumped by her married next door neighbor after a five year illustrious affair she finds herself going off the deep end as she launched an insane plot to remain forever in his life. She befriends his wife, tries to befriend his children, and stalks him relentlessly. Though when the tables turn and he decides he has to get her out of his life, one way or another... well... let's just say things don't turn out as you'd expect.Tamar Cohen writes with a knowledge of this type of obsession that is almost scary. All in all, this is a great book! A must-read!-Kitty Bullard / Great Minds Think Aloud Book Club

Fabulous book, I absolutely loved it. It is written in such a personal way that the story came to life and felt totally real. I couldn't stop listening to it. Brilliantly narrated as well.

**I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book through a Goodreads First Reads contest.**

I do believe that if I had not gotten this book through First Reads that I would not have pushed myself to finish it and write a review. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting in the way the book would be written but I was not satified with what I got. This book is written somewhat like a journal would be and while some stories written this way are easy to follow, I think the rambling by the main character is what first put me off. I felt as if there was no flow to the story. I also felt as if it took longer for the main character to unravel than it should have as her psychosis became increasingly worse. At the end of the book I found myself wondering what was going on and why the story didn't just end already. I don't believe that I will be reading this book again or recommending it to anyone. Sorry.

On the one hand, the book moved slow in parts... but on the other hand, I kept coming back to it. And the surprise ending was extremely well done. Even after I realized there was going to be a surprise, I was still uncertain just what it was going to be, until after I got there.

All in all, not a bad book, and I would recommend this to others... but even more, I would recommend to keep an eye out for this author. This was her first -- I think she can - and will be - better.

I have to admit I was totally surprised by the compelling novel, The Mistress's Revenge. Once I started; I was unable to put the book down until I had devoured the very last word. Bravo Tamar Cohen on a wonderfully written contemporary thriller. The back cover referred to the story as an updated Fatal Attraction and indeed it was. The story is told through writing in a journal that is being kept by Sally Islip. She is writing the journal as a form of therapy to overcome the end of her five year affair with Clive Gooding. As she journals her present feelings and how she is trying to cope; she returns the reader to the events that outline the five year affair. The ending is so well done and creative it took me by surprise. I definitely will pass this one along and recommend it to anyone who wants a great, fast read that does not disappoint.

This novel sounded fantastic when I'd read the synopsis on Goodreads. Fatal Attraction novel? Hell yes! This has to be my second time (or third) reading a novel in the form of a journal/letter, and that is what mainly confused me at times. With 1st person or 3rd person narrations, you experience with the character rather than being told of what already happened. Which is sorta why I guess I couldn't really connect with the characters. However, once I adjusted to the way it was being told, I did see why this novel was published. The storyline was great. The suspense and "nail-biting" factor was epic! and sometimes you wonder how someone can be so crazy, and are left in anticipation as to what is to come next! The last few pages flew by and in the end I was struck in the face with an outcome I hadn't seen coming.Final Thought: It is definitely a good read! Interesting and even suspenseful once you adjust and get into it. I can't wait to see what else this author has planned next. :)

I was really excited about it and couldn't wait to read it. I started reading it and the format (journal entry style) took a little while for me to get use to but I was enjoying the progression of crazy that Sally was taking. The book really never felt like it climaxed to me. I feel like it kept building up amazing tension and then all of a sudden it just fell flat {on its face}.I will say that I was so confused about the ending. I kept having to reread the first part of the ending because I kept thinking I missed something. It was almost like the author got tired and just jumped to a conclusion that made absolutely no sense.I did enjoy the book for the most part...I just feel like it down the wrong path and I never got the amazing display of crazy that I was sticking around for.

When I started this book, I really had to struggle to get into it, so give it a chance if the same thing happens to you. I think we have all been in love once with someone that we obsessed about and did things that we would not do under normal circumstatnces. I really liked Sally and felt many feelings as I desended into her private hell or shall I say reality. On one hand it is a frightening book, as it could happen to any of us at the drop of a hat. Definately a good read, and I am glad I persevered. Enjoy!! As they say there is a fine line between love and hate.

Sally and Clive are having an affair and Clive suddenly breaks it off to reconcile with his wife. Written in the form of a journal, the story chronicles her stalking of Clive and his family while she falls deeper into a depression. Sally is not some single woman. she has a partner and children of her own, so she should have started devoting her time to them, but finds herself totally consumed with Clive's life. Not to say that she is a hateful or hurtful person, but it is easy to see how this witty and intelligent woman is driven towards insanity. It reminded me a bit of Fatal Attraction with immense amounts of angst and delusions, but without the bunny at the end. This is something you won't be able to put down and it can be creepy beyond belief. The ending completely surprise me and was perfect for this story.I really thought that Cohen did a very smart thing in telling this story by using a diary type format. Although a bit one-sided, you get a clear picture of exactly what Sally is thinking and with the encouragement of her therapist, she goes back to figure out what happened to her and why. As she digs deeper you can see the crazy come to the surface. I really enjoyed this romantic thriller and I'm not really sure if that is the right category, but it was thrilling to me! If you like James Patterson or Lisa Scottoline, I am sure you will enjoy this one as well.

Although both Sally and Clive have partners and children, they embark on a five-year elicit love affair. When Clive ends the relationship, Sally doesn’t want to let go. She becomes so obsessed, she allows her whole life to crumble. I couldn’t help but wonder if this was going to be just another formulaic female stalker novel, à la Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. Other than being told in the first person through Sally’s journal entries, would The Mistress’s Revenge have anything new to offer? The writing was good, though sometimes confusing as Sally loses her grip, yet the story was intriguing enough that I found myself wanting to know how it ended. I have to admit I had a hard time connecting with the main character -- yeah, she had a pretty good sense-of-humor, but she was way too selfish for me to invest in/care about. But the book did have a twist surprise ending that I never saw coming, which is always a good thing, in my opinion. This is Ms. Cohen’s first novel and her work has lots of potential. I just hope her next book has characters I actually like. A better title would be good too.
