Cute and fun and with a bit of drama in it.

Lily is a chef and is always on the go. She loves food, she loves her job and to her cooking is relaxing so I can't fault a woman for doing what she loves. Even if she could sit down and smell the roses now and then ;)

Kenan has issues. Trauma from his tours in Afghanistan, and unresolved conflicts with his ex.wife. He is a nice man, but does not say much.

Which means we have whirlwind meets stone. And she will break through that shell and they will slowly fall for each other.

Then we have the drama part that are from both their pasts and brings so something new into the mix.

The book felt cute and I cheered for them.

Thought to try a new author with a light-hearted storyline. Unfortunately the narrator's performance was so bad, I stopped listening during Chapter 7 and quit after Chapter 8. Ms. Beamish's accents were inconsistent and, I suspect, untrained. The 1-1/2 stars are exclusively the author's. The story (first 8 chapters) was decent but not unique enough to merit a better rating.

A rather irritating book with a neanderthal hero and a too girly heroine. The writing's not great, although I had lined it up to be a 3-star read, mainly for being such a good idea for a novel, until the totally ridiculous scene of violent threat in the restaurant between Lily and her ex. Um, no, just no - no woman would leave with a man who did that to her, certainly not in a public place where she could so easily call for help! The novel became really annoying after this, and I gave up caring about any of it. Oh well.
