THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING DEBUT PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER YOU CAN'T MISS!

“A hair-raising debut, both unsettling and addictive...A chilling thriller that will keep you reading long into the night.” —Mary Kubica, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Good Girl

“This debut is guaranteed to haunt you...Warning: brace yourself.” —Bustle (10 New Thrillers to Read This Summer)

The sense of believably and terror that engulfs Behind Closed Doors doesn't waver.” —The Associated Press, picked up by The Washington Post

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He’s a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better.

But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable.

Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows.

Some might wonder what’s really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed.

It was interesting and an interesting twist but the bad guy was boring. Maybe I am just desensitized but his plan and what he was doing as a “bad guy” was more like a spoiled child just being annoying and fussy. Don’t get me wrong there were some times I was surprised and for someone who does not prefer disturbing twists with blood and guts hanging out everywhere this book is for you. The book was narrated well, I felt her fear and anxiety. The book was fine but if you are looking for something a little more ghoulish this so not for you.

Whoa! What a ride! A terrifying menacing story of a woman who falls in love with the wrong (very wrong) man. This really unnerved me and had me spellbound. I read it in one sitting staying up till 3 am as I just could not put it down. The plot didn't particularly surprise me, as I basically knew what was going to happen but the sheer suspense kept me glued. It is a very frightening scenario, especially as a woman, to read. Cannot wait for the author to write a second book!

Pretty unpleasant read. More miserable than suspenseful. Wish I had spent time on something else.

I have mixed feelings about this book. The main character chose not to see so many red flags that I became annoyed with her. Nevertheless, I'm willing to give Paris' writing one more try.

A psychological horror full of fearful tension! I loved it!

It’s a great story idea but in a moment it turns a little repetitive and the book it self spoils you the end

The ending wasn’t logical but overall the storyline was good enough to keep my attention.

Very similar to The Housemaid by Freida McFadden! It's been a long time since I've been able to read a book all the way through and the ending literally gave me goosebumps! Amazing read!

So many twists and turns to this plot! I wish there had been a little bit more character background on the antagonist and a little bit more wrap up at the end but once I got a couple chapters in I did not want to stop listening. Absolutely loved the narrator on this one! Her voice was easy to listen to, her characters were clearly different and she was easily understood

I am not gonna continue listening. The story for sure is good, but the woman's pace of narrating is way too fast.

It was a good, suspenseful book. Liked how the author switched from past to present. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that an epilogue would have been so nice. To have a full picture of a heartwarming ending after all the torture darkness the whole book.

Not gonna lie... I was expecting a huge plot twist at the end like most thrillers. But this one wasn’t. Just is a good, easy ready that still captivated me. I finished it within two days.. I recommend the audiobook- the narrator does a great job with the inflection in her voice.

I read the book several months ago and I'm so excited that the audiobook was recently released. The author is a freaking genius. I've read all of her books including the recently released book The Therapist everything she writes is gold. This book is no exception. I loved every second of it. Highly recommend.

It kept my attention throughout the book and I was surprised by the ending.

Very slow especially at the beginning. Not particularly threatening or suspenseful since you aren’t really convinced that the husband is physically abusing the wife and his mental games seem trite to any woman with a bit of backbone. It was 8 hours of my life that I felt I had wasted really. People had built this novel up in the reviews to be so great. Very disappointing.

The plot was interested but could've certainly been a little more suspenseful seeing how long the book was. As is she could've gotten to the point a lot quicker.

I found the book interesting but too long and predictable. I skipped about 7 chapters in the middle and felt like I did not miss anything. Also, starting from 1/3 of the book it was kind of obvious how it would end.

The last two sentences are the best ending of a book I have read/listened to in a very long time...

I thought this book had a perfect ending. The way the author foreshadowed it throughout the story was brilliant. I feel as if it could have been more concise as a whole though, it started to get a bit repetitive and bored me at times. Overall the author did a great job at conveying the narrators emotions and the behavior of the husband so accurately to how a psychopath would behave as well. I also thought her sister’s intelligence and their “secrets” were a very vital and interesting aspect of the story. Great read, highly recommend!!

    Great narration. 2.5-3 stars.
This story had promise… but the author really took things over the top and into the realm of the implausible. Also, the main character was absurdly naive… to the point where I wanted to I wanted to throw the phone in frustration. The number of ohhh, maybe they didn’t meeeean for that to happen occurred a good 30xs… once or twice ok… beyond that - gaaaah!!!!!!
This was a relatively short book, but it’s frustratingly repetitive with ridiculous behaviors that make it feel 2-3xs longer than it needs to be.
The ending wraps up a bit too neatly.. once again delving full on into the land of implausibility.
Overall I didn’t hate it but I can’t in good conscience recommend it either. Read at your own risk and prepare for a LOT of very dark violence - if you’re sensitive to that you will NEED to avoid this - it really does go into some places that could be extremely triggering for a lot of people.
