- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Ooowee, a female president of the USA. Wow! This was a super fast read for me. Spy stuff, disguises, political intrigue. If you are looking to escape for an afternoon, check this one out. I loved it. My thanks to the author and the Penguin First to Read program for a complimentary copy.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5President Kate Lee summons Stone Barrington to Washington, D.C. on an urgent matter, but he needs help to find the kidnapped daughter of the Speaker of the House. Enter the inimitable Teddy Fay . . . .Packed with action and mystery, with ramped up tension and enough twists and turns to keep readers off-balance, this tale of intrigue shines with its well-developed characters and strong sense of place. As the suspense mounts, readers are likely to find this unputdownable book keeps them reading far into the night.Highly recommended.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was a very fast read, and was enjoyable. The book's fast paced, exciting, and has you guessing until the end. I haven't read the other books by this author, which I feel was a bit detrimental to fully understanding the characters. Most of the characters seem to be from, or at least made appearances in the author's Stone Barrington series. While they are all introduced, there's a lot of history between the characters that isn't given in depth partly because relating everything is just impossible.
If you have trouble jumping into a book where there are a lot of characters, or a lot of characters previously introduced than Smooth Operator may not be for you. If you like a good thriller/mystery and the above isn't an issue I'd recommend giving it a read.
I received this copy from First to Read in exchange for an honest review. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Poor Teddy is finding it hard to stay retired as someone, POTUS, needs his special skils. A pseudo terrorist plot is threatening the House Legislative process with a kidnapping and several murders. Lots of zipping around in various private planes and the body mcount keeps rising. Flimsy plot premise but a good tale is told. And, Teddy get his own book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this first book starring Teddy Fay. I always liked him in the Stone Barrington novels. I look forward to many more Teddy Fay novels.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oh my, this book was great! I read it in an afternoon because the story grabs you & there's so many twists & turns, you turn the pages as fast as you can! I borrowed my copy from the local library but wanted to give a review of the book on Scribd. It's a great fast read & I can hardly wait to read the next one in the series!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Teddy Fay, former CIA, is now back on the scene. This time, it involves the kidnapping of a congressman's daughter. Teddy is asked to come and help recover the girl.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book focused more on Teddy Fay than Stone Barrington. I'd like to read more about Fay and hope Woods writes more books featuring this character. This was a good read and kept my interest.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5[Smooth Operator] by Stuart WoodsTeddy Fay series Book # 14.5★'sFrom The Book:When President Kate Lee calls Stone Barrington to Washington on an urgent matter, it’s soon clear that a potentially disastrous situation requires the kind of help more delicate than even he can provide... and he knows just the right man for the job. Teddy Fay: ex-CIA, master of disguise, and a gentleman not known for abiding by legal niceties in the pursuit of his own brand of justice. My Thoughts:Teddy Fay is one of the most fascinating characters that Stuart Woods has ever imagined. He has appeared at some point in all of the Stone Barrington, Holly Barker, Will Lee and Ed Eagle books and brought a touch of adventure, excitement and intrigue to what was already a good story. Teddy rides the fence between being a good guy and a bad guy...dispensing, when called upon...his own brand of justice. I thought from the very first time I met him in a Stone Barrington book that this character should have his very own series. If Teddy's book #1 is any indication Mr. Woods has an automatic hit on his hands. I just hope that he will continue along the lines that he has written in [Smooth Operator] and doesn't feel that it is necessary to turn this amazingly wonderful character into a sex crazed manic as he has some of his others. I will have to say that he has toned down the hormones in his other characters in the last couple of books. Great beginning Mr. Woods and thank you.
