About this audiobook

In this installment of Karen Marie Moning’s epic #1 New York Times bestselling Fever series, Mac, Barrons, Ryodan, and Jada are back—and the stakes have never been higher and the chemistry has never been hotter. Hurtling us into a realm of labyrinthine intrigue and consummate seduction, Feverborn is a riveting tale of ancient evil, lust, betrayal, forgiveness, and the redemptive power of love.

When the immortal Fae destroyed the ancient wall dividing the worlds of Man and Faery, the very fabric of the universe was damaged, and now Earth is vanishing bit by bit. Only the long-lost Song of Making—a haunting, dangerous melody that is the source of life itself—can save the planet.

But those who seek the mythic song must contend with old wounds and new enemies, passions that burn hot and hunger for vengeance that runs deep. The challenges are many: the Keltar at war with nine immortals who’ve secretly ruled Dublin for eons, Mac and Jada hunted by the masses, the Seelie queen nowhere to be found, and the most powerful Unseelie prince in all creation determined to rule both Fae and Man. Now the task of solving the ancient riddle of the Song of Making falls to a band of deadly warriors divided among—and within—themselves.

Once a normal city possessing a touch of ancient magic, Dublin is now a treacherously magical city with only a touch of normal. And on those war-torn streets, Mac will come face-to-face with her most savage enemy yet: herself.

I absolutely love these books but I find it very hard to get through this audiobook with these voice actors. I prefer Phil Gigante and the other woman to do the reading. They've brought the story truly to life and then to have the voices suddenly change just doesn't fit.

I'm going to give this a 3 because it's literally one of my favorite series but.... these audiobooks are a mess... like a freaking disaster. They all need to be re-recorded. I get the Phil situation but the new audio is like listening to a children's documentary or someone reading to a class... I'm so upset. Karen pls re-do all of the series audio, do a Duet with some popular voice actors and bring this story to life again. It could be so popular again if it was taken care of. I'm going to have to DNF this because of the audio and probably won't move on in the series unless it's a different narrator...

Another excellent excellent book. But the male narration is the worst I have ever heard. No effort for continuity from the incredible previous narrator. He ruined every single male character, especially barons and ryoden. And Lore, they all sound like smarmy whiny toads with absolutely zero sex appeal. Very very shocked and disappointed. The female narrator was ok, but make Jada sound like she was from Jamaica or something. very very poor choices.

As always I was at the edge of my seat! I was pulled in immediately and cannot wait to hear the story continue in the next book!

Don’t like the new narrators. Why would they change it? The others were so much better.

There were a few spectacular scenes in this book, reminiscent of the three books before it that I adored, which saved it from being a "nothing" kind of filler book. But generally, Feverborn just didn't fulfil my very very high expectations. A plot was set up and then promptly ignored. Hardly anything actually happened until the last chapter, and even then it was a sort of regression backwards for the series. There were so many different threads in the series that have real potential, but didn't move forward at all. Example- absolutely nothing new on the Kat & Kasteo front. This book needed to be longer & sharper & more focused. So, big disappointment. I'm getting tired of being disappointed by sequels to my favourite series (Kate Daniels, October Daye) especially where they are released as hardback-first with crazy high ebook prices.

But still... the scenes where that old Fever magic shines through... there was one particular scene that was absolutely heart-wrenching. Those scenes were the book's saving grace.

The first part of this book drove me nuts, because... sheesh, I think Ms. Moning may have jumped the shark there. By the last few chapters, I was enjoying it again.

Feverborn by Karen Marie Moning (Audiobook)
Narrated by: Luke Daniels and Jill Redfield
    Series: Fever 8

4 Stars - There was more Barrons and Mac… while I was wishing for Dani.. I thought these were going to be the “Dani O’Malley series”. Without giving anything away, I felt the story progressed well. Some action, but still a lot of unanswered questions and of course a cliffhanger.

It's hard to switch narrators in the middle of the series. The voices were already so set in my head. Luke Daniels was ok.. His voice sounds older, not virile like Barrons, Ryodan, Lore and the highlanders should be. Phil Gigante did such a better job I think. His deep clear voice suited “The Nine” and the highlanders. However that’s not to say Daniels didn't do a good job, he had emotions and a range of voices. I would listen to him on another story for sure. Jill Redfield did a good job of Mac. She didn't portray Mac as flighty as she has been read in the past and I loved her Irish lilt.

    I love the Fever Series.

Finally we get to see what goes on when Ryodan, Barrons and their brethren are on the private floors of Chester's.

“What we achieve at our best moment doesn’t say much about who we are. It all boils down to what we become at our worst moment.”Feverborn is the penultimate installment of the Fever series, but then again Moning tried ending it once before and we see how well that stuck. Finding out that Feversong was the last of the series prompted a renewed interest in finding out how it’s all going to get resolved (except, there is a tenth installment listed on Goodreads but apparently it’s not actually happening. WE’LL SEE.) Iced was a complete disaster, Burned was mildly better, but Feverborn actually started feeling like the series I’d always loved again.Mac continues to be unsure of herself in regards to the Sinsar-Dubh, not able to tell whether or not she’s living a complete illusion created by the evil book. The entire city is at risk from Black Holes that consume anything and everything which the Hoar Frost King left behind from the absence of his power. And underneath the Abbey, Cruce is slowly trying to figure out a way to escape his prison and rule all Fae. In the opening pages, Mac is still invisible and I did an eye roll and reconsidered my decision to pick this up. If you remember, she was invisible the majority of Burned which got real fucking old, real fast. But craziness ensues and she finds herself fully visible once again for unknown reasons and while I would normally question the whys and such, I was just so damn pleased she was visible again so she could hopefully get back to business. And that she did.The points of view alternated between Mac, Ryodan, Jada, Cruce, and Lor, which the latter felt completely out of place and unnecessary but I admit he did add some mild (yet highly sexualized) sense of humor to this dark tale. And of course Mac and Barrons continue to be mad for each other.‘Every cell in my body comes to hard, frantic, sexual life when he’s near.’There were a few serious issues plot-wise that really detracted from the more positive aspects of this installment. First, the scenes from the past between the Unseelie King and Seelie Queen that were supposed to hint at what’s been happening all along but just confused things even more. Second, which is a major spoiler View Spoiler » And lastly, that ending was just weird and random. View Spoiler » And of course, another cliffhanger! BECAUSE WHY NOT. I can’t say I’m excited for the final installment, but I’m definitely curious to see how this unintentional extension of this series ends up playing out.

I'm going with three stars here. It was good. I didn't love it- but it was good. I am starting to feel ambivalent about the characters, and that's not a good sign, but still kinda want(ed) to know where KMM is ultimately going to go in this universe of hers. Will not be reading any more of her books, regardless... the whole Phil Gigante thing has left a really bad taste in my mouth (between her and her fans and the whole situation I am just far too grossed out). Blech.

ARGH, Ms. Moning, why must you torture me so with the cliffhangers??? I really did love the book though. It was emotional and surprising and like all Fever books, kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. Parts made me cry, parts made me "grrr" and parts ... well... Barrons, need I say more? I enjoyed getting to see Dancer again and I love that the Highlanders are still intertwined with this series. The world that has been created here in this series is so complex and interesting that it just blows my mind and I can't help but be a little jealous of the mind that thought it all up! You have a forever fan in me Karen Marie Moning and I can't wait for your next book!

I wasn't sure how I'd like this since I listened to it and they replaced the usual narrators due to legal troubles one of them had. I got used to the narrators, and the story was OK, but I do think Moning needs to end the series.

I've been waiting to read this book since learning when it would be published and it was well worth it!
This book can be read as is but I recommend starting from the beginning to full understand what's going on and there's a lot of build up throughout the series.
Karen's books have drawn me in since reading her Highlander books and now her Fever series. There's always suprises I couldn't see coming that have me wanting to read her books cover to cover without stopping.
In this latest installment, Jada forms an alliance with Ryodan, Mac, Barrons, and her fellow sidhe- seers to try to put a stop to the cosmic holes that are slowly eating up Dublin & combat some of the rogue fae to save the city and world from being destroyed.
Things don't go quite as planned, loyalties are tested and some secrets will be revealed that could either really mess things up or be the solution to the problems being faced.
I really enjoyed this book especially getting some insight into Jada, Mac realizing the importance of good magic as well as trying to make amends and getting a glimpse into Ryodan's motives which aren't all selfish.
I got a glimpse into a different side of Dancer who has been more accepting of Jada than the others. He really is a smart and intuitive guy who cares for Jada as she is but also tries not to crowd her.
Mac and Barrons have several steamy love scenes and one in particular that had me laughing a bit in the beginning.
I enjoyed reading more about the Keltars despite the heartbreak they were going through and seeing Christian transform into a Fae whose humanity comes back and learns how to attempt control with his Fae side.
I'm really curious as to what us slowly developing between Jada and Ryodan and I really hope she's able to figure out who she wants to be with though it may be a while.
This book ended on quite the cliffhanger and I'm eager to read the next book in the series though January seems really far off at the moment.

Full of adventure, humor, the power of love, friendship and the importance of trust, it's a book I highly recommend. I'm very curious what Karen will have next up her sleeve.

Holy mechanical nightmares what an ending ! I was left gasping for breath. Where did it go ? What does it mean ? What will happen to Barrons ? When is the next book being released ?????The horrors that Dani/Jada had to survive for years are just peeking out around the edges. Scars inside and out cover her, but those weren't the worst damage. She wasn't always aloneMac is dealing with this massive power inside her that could go off at anytime. There may never be another pink cake. The world may end, taking another with itRyo was sweet, nasty, sneaky, artistic and hands on.The Fever world is spinning out of control
