For some people, silence is a weapon. For Mallory "Mouse" Dodge, it's a shield. Growing up, she learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it's been four years since her nightmare ended, she's beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime.
Now, after years of homeschooling with loving adoptive parents, Mallory must face a new milestonespending her senior year at public high school. But of all the terrifying and exhilarating scenarios she's imagined, there's one she never dreamed ofthat she'd run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn't seen since childhood, on her very first day.
It doesn't take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet the deeper their bond grows, the more it becomes apparent that she's not the only one grappling with lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider's life spiral out of control, Mallory must make a choice between staying silent and speaking outfor the people she loves, the life she wants and the truths that need to be heard.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good:,Liked the character development and back story.
Bad: Was a little too drawn out, didn’t have enough emotional pull. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another wonderful young adult book! Deals with serious issues outside of “I don’t fit in.” I love how well-developed the story is and the feelings it pulled from my heart for these characters. I love when a book has you wanting other series to see how others lives pan out. Great book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another great piece from the YA master, The problem with forever is touching on some very real and very important issues, like child abuse, prejudice of society, and overcoming our challenges. Behind it all, it’s a sweet love story and as usual, very likeable characters, plenty of emotional turmoil and an uplifting conclusion. A great light summer read!

I recommend this book, to everyone. What I like most about this book is that it lets us know that no matter where we are, what’s going on, how we feel, or what people might say or think about us we are ok. Exactly where we are is exactly how we are supposed to be in this life. This is just a very good positive read that does have a couple of sad spots, and a couple of very heartwarming spots. I really enjoyed the book and the message. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was a good story. Not action packed but it's the story of Mallory and Ryder who are two foster kids living in a very abusive foster home and form a bond. Mallory is adopted and after 4 years in a loving home, she is healing bit by bit. When she and Ryder are reunited in school they reclaim their friendship and it has become more. I liked the way both characters showed growth over the course of the story. Especially with Ryder recognizing his own challenges.
