About this audiobook

Years ago, family loyalty caused Fain Hauk to give up everything he loved: His military career. His planet. His fiancée. Even his name.

Now decades later, everything has changed. He's built a new life out of the ashes of his old, and he's vowed to never let anything threaten his loved ones again.

But when old enemies align themselves with new ones, he's caught in the middle of a brutal war. And when fate throws his former fiancée back into his world and she has her own agenda that includes taking his head for what he did to her years ago, more than just his life is at stake. The fate of the Ichidian universe and that of his brothers-in-arms hangs in the balance. Winner take all.

It's killed or be killed, and never has the battle been more fierce...

I had insomnia last night and this kept me company, did it fairly well too. I was a little lost occasionally. Interesting story with a man who leaves his promised wife to save his brother. Then his life becomes a disaster and he finds himself as a slave, then she comes back and she has baggage. He has to work out how to deal with her, particularly when her first move is to shoot him. There were some hilarious moments but I found myself lost in a multitude of characters occasionally. Still fun read.

*Book was received for the purpose of an honest review from the publisher***Review is cross-posted with MyBookAddictionandMore.com/Reviews**First I have to start off saying I read the first 3 books in this series years ago when they were originally released and then haven't kept up with the series. I'm more into Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter world. With that said, I was able to pick this one and get completely drawn in. Yes there are a lot people to keep track up, a new world to follow and other story-lines outside the romance between Fain and Galene to follow. Fans of this series are going to be thrilled with this one, I'm not a "true" fan as I don't follow this series and yet I sat up all NIGHT long until 4am to finish this one in one setting. I couldn't put it down! The story just pulled me in and I had to know what was going to happen. Now I find I have to go back and read the ones I've missed and go back and reread the original three as they've be updated and revised from their original formats. Fans of SF will love BORN OF BETRAYAL. But if like me, you aren't a true SF fan but do love romance I think you'll still enjoy BORN OF BETRAYAL. I see alot of Kenyon's writing style carrying over. No matter what she writes you can't help but be pulled in and eager for more. I loved the characters, I loved their interactions with each other, the plot, the hard facts they had to fact and come to terms with, the on going battle...............all of it. Honestly it was like reading something I could see as part of a Star Trek show but still felt realistic to an extent. It's hard to explain, there were tons of characters that could have made me feel lost and unsure of what was going on but somehow Kenyon kept me focused on the main two, Fain and Galene, even with everything else that pulled at my attention and all the other characters that made you smile and laugh or want to know more you still were able to follow the romance. That is a sign of a true master, when I know there are tons of other stories going on and instead of getting lost I feel like I'm part of the story. I'm there watching from the sidelines, I'm the fly on the wall as they say, I'm just another character watching at it all unfolds and I learn with the characters what's going to happen next, I learn secrets I didn't expect. Coming into this one blind in a way as a reader who hasn't followed this series, I still felt like it worked. Yes I think those who follow the series will likely get side jokes or understand a bit more about the struggle Fain and Galene face, I still think I was fine. So if you are new to the series or Sherrilyn Kenyon and look for a different sort of romance then pick this one up. If you follow this series I'm sure this one will end up as a keeper. It's a keeper for me and now I have to find the previous stories and read them!

If you read the last book Born of Defiance, you'll see some familiar faces like Talyn & Galene, as well as others from previous books. This latest edition tells the story of Fain Hauk. I was excited for this one especially because of his connection with Tayln & Galene. I knew it was gonna be a good one and it was. Kenyon as always hits it out of the park. It amazes me how these books never get old. Sometimes that can happen with a long series, but every book holds something more exciting then the next.Fred Berman is again narrating and it's wonderful how he embodies the characters.
