About this audiobook

Before you knew him as Trent in Ten Tiny Breaths, he was Cole Reynolds—and he had it all. Until one night when he makes a fatal, wrong decision…and loses everything. Discover his side of the story in this novella from the beloved nationally bestselling author, K.A. Tucker.

When a drunken night out at a Michigan State college party results in the death of six people, Cole must come to terms with his part in the tragedy. Normally, he’d be able to lean on his best friends—the ones who have been in his life since he could barely walk. Only, they’re gone. Worse, there’s the shattered body of a sixteen-year-old girl lying somewhere in a hospital bed, her entire life ripped from her because of a case of beer and a set of keys.

Everyone assures him that they know it wasn’t intentional, and yet he can’t ignore the weight of their gazes, the whispers behind his back. Nor can he shake the all-consuming guilt he feels every time he thinks of that girl who won’t so much as allow him near her hospital room to apologize. As the months go by and the shame and loneliness festers, Cole begins to lose his grip on what once was important—college, his girlfriend, his future. His life. It’s not until Cole hits rock-bottom that he can begin to see another way out of his personal hell: forgiveness.

And there’s only one person who can give that to him…

Great book it is very good and reads like a turn life experience from the different characters. The condition of life changing occurs that was brought on by mistake of young men who thinks that they invisible to the wrong things that takes place in life.

These one bad decision caused many families painful losses of life and deaths the ramifications of that day destroyed everything for the families that was in that road that gracious day. It equally destroyed families relationship and friends of the families that were close. But in th end it was the survival that was left behind to picking up the remaining balance of their lives.

Great book but I like to know what becomes of the rest of their lifes.

Immediately after finishing 'Ten Tiny Breaths' I dived into this prequel. This was a short, quick novella that only took a few hours to listen to in its entirety. Told in Trent's POV, this story takes us back in time to the night of the accident. The novella comes to an end when Trent relocates to Miami, at the beginning of 'Ten Tiny Breaths'. You will want to read 'Ten Tiny Breaths' before reading this prequel...or reading more of this review.

Watching the foretold tragic events unfold through Trent's eyes was heartbreaking. The guilt and self-loathing that he carried on his shoulders were tremendous. Seeing it from his perspective, I couldn't help but pity him and his parents. To then feel responsible for the destruction of his parents' marriage, in addition to the lives lost in the wreck and Kacey's downward spiral, was an unbearable cross to carry. Though, I have to admit that this book made me reevaluate my views on many things, including some pretty creepy stalking behaviors and incredibly invasive actions by Trent.

This is one of those stories where you want to intervene somehow to prevent the inevitable from happening. Instead, you're left to observe from the sidelines, biting your nails down to the quick. It'll have your rapt attention, start to finish. Be prepared to shed some tears. Unlike the first book, this one does focus pretty much entirely on the emotional, depressing elements of Trent and Kacey's shared past.

I didn't think the male narrator was as good as the female narrator in the first book. However, that is just a reflection of my personal preferences related to the sound of his voice. It was alright after a little while, but not the voice I had imagined for Trent. In the end, it didn't stop me from enjoying this audiobook. If you're a fan of 'Ten Tiny Breaths' I highly recommend hearing Trent's side.

It was so nice to see things from his perspective, see what went through his mind and how he got over the same traumatic event

Left me scratching my head. It felt unfinished and left the main character seeming like stalker weirdo. However, I loved Burying Water and Chasing River by this author.
